E55 vs. E63??
Any updates on this front? I have a 2005 E55, and have never driven a 63. My dad just bought an 08' E63, but hasn't taken delivery yet..He was looking for a 55. But found a deal on a 08' 63, that could not be passed up..
Just trying to see which one is quicker 0-60, stock vs. stock.. opinions?

The 55 is much better at low-ER speeds and low RPMs. The 63 is better at high speeds and around a track. But there is no competition for the feeling of 516 ft lbs of torque being delivered at about 3,000 RPM IMHO

Both cars are amazing. It really is going to depend on two major factors - (1) do you want new (if so, E63 is your only option) and (2) do you have any plans for modifications or upgrades (if so, E55 currently has MANY more affordable options and potential).
In stock form, the 0-60 times and 1/4 miles times are pretty much better for the E55 across the board, but not by much. The fit and finish on the E63 is a bit nicer, IMO. And, if warranty concerns you (this is a non-issue on the new E63s), there are several really good aftermarket warranty companies that will provide bumper to bumper coverage on older E55s.
Once your dad takes deliver and breaks in the car, take them both out and have some fun. Run some tests of the cars up next to each other and experiment. That is half the fun.

great commnets... Initially, my dad wanted an E55.. And was looking to stay in that "price" range (50k +/-) for a nice used 05-06.. But after looking, I think he liked the E63 a little better, for the updates, warranty, and simply the fact that the car is newer. but he has never "driven" one believe it or not.. And he just bought a 2008 sight unseen, that will be delivered in the next few weeks. so, hopefully he'll like it LOL
As far as you last comment. You can count on it..

Both cars are great and are a lot of fun to own and drive. And regarding performance, like others have said, in stock form, both are very close in performance, and mostly the driver would determine the winner of such race. But once you start modding, the E55 yields much more power much quicker and much cheaper.
Since you got both cars now, you should film some runs and post the videos......

I see you have the P30 option... The car we ended up getting is Artic White/Black Napa and has a $95,440 sticker. It has P2,Ipod,Pano,Parktronic,Voice,trunk closer, rear blinds. the only 2 options is doesnt have are: distronic and P30..
the P30 options is $8500 alone NICE OPTION!!!!!

Not a joke if your IC pump is bad....experienced this personally....very weird....car pulls hard to 140 and then flatlines at 140. 155mph otherwise. And, of course, no speed limiter with ECU flash (also experienced personally ).

I think Juicee was talking about the E63 tuned by MKB in this article:

I believe it only has ECU + Headers ( +20 hp gain )

What I was referring to, is how it performs compared to the E55, at speeds where the car is driven 99.9% of the time. 0-60 performance, 0-90 performance,etc.. I guess I should have specified.

From about 45 to 100 mph, the E55 will easily win the race. After 100 mph, the E63 starts to really pick up even in hot weather like we have here in california.
In summary, I would say....
0-60 mph, both cars would be equal (on average)
0-100 mph, E55 would win (close race)
0-155 mph, E63 would win (close race)
Again, since both cars are 100% stock, such races are too close to call, and the driver will end up determining the outcome, which in my opinion, makes the race 100x more fun

MB Forever is right, the numbers are very close. I say it all depends on which one you like better. I test drove both the 63 and the 55 many times before I got my car, and I just loved all the low end torque I got out of the 55, and I rarely go over 120 anyways.

Juicee is just messing around...... I think he wanted to rattle the cage a little bit and have fun with the 55 guys . LOL...... this same thread keeps popping up every two months or so discussing the exact same points between E55 and E63, then at some point turns into a pissing contest, then later, somehow turns into a peaceful agreement all by itself

I dont race people... My car is stock, the magazines have already done all the racing for me. I just like to put cocky M3 owners in their place once in a while. But about the wheel spin, It doesnt really bother me since I dont race, its just fun for me. Like I've said many times before... there is no substitute for the 55 engine and there never will be, not for me at least.
