Launching in 2nd instead of 1st?
With all the mods, I find it impossible to launch the car without spinning in 1st, even with 295 in the rear. In fact, as many here, I spin the wheels through 2nd as well. So I figured why even waste time with the 1st gear when launching the car and worry about feathering the pedal, traction, tranny shifting at wrong points, ESP, etc... Or instead, simply launching the car straight out of 2nd. I have tried that a few times and still get wheel spin, but it is much more manageable and I truly do think that I accelerate harder and stronger and maybe even gain time by not having as much wheel spin and not having to shift from 1st to 2nd.
Has anyone else tried racing from 2nd and had better results than from the traditional 1st? I know that many high-powered cars ignore the 1st on the streets when racing.

you can't on the auto b/c it will automatically shift into first past a certain throttle input. You'd probably have to reprogram the ECU or TCU for that.
P.S. what tires are you running? @ 295 on good rubber you shouldn't be having too much trouble, that is alot of rubber. Maybe you should consider a higher performing tire.

And yes, Vegas streets are not very good for high HP vehicles.

Time for Toyo 888's for you my friend.
Certain death in the rain of course but still. Friggin love mine.
On the 2nd gear thing, Fleebee was stuck launching in 2nd at the track month or 2 ago and got slaughtered for times.
Can't imagine drivetrain would be too happy over the long haul with that much torque in 2nd on a 2 ton car.
Just my pence.

Try launching in C mode. I did it at the track by accident. Put it C mode and put the tranny in Drive and leave the ECU on and launch off idle, also lower your air pressure in the rear to about 25-28 for the street.

Well I can see how on the track, which is better paved and conditioned then a regular street, starting of in first (if it hooks) is better than second. What I'm saying is that on the 'street' I get wheel spin starting in 2nd, so then perhaps I should avoid the 1st alltogether... I'll just buy something that will record the 0 to 60 times I guess and see which is better for my car on the street.
Just wanted to see if anyone here started their street races of in 2nd.

I just think ya gotta give up something for optimal traction bro.
If you want hard launches with little wheelspin as possible on slippery pavement, only option really is the DR's or the Toyo's.
Both have drawbacks of course. I am never closer to God then when I get caught in a rain storm in my tires. It's rare but terrifying.
However, when I let that som-bitc-h rip from a redlight....![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)

Wish I could let you borrow my DR's for a week or so. You'd be blown away at the difference to ps2's. Shipping would be killer though.

Weird that you get that much spin with 20's.
Huh, maybe with 18's, you'd even get less traction.
Forgot bout that 20" thingy. What the heck kinda numbers you putting down to wheels anyway? Sounds incredible.

Just set the tranny to the 'M' mode and start in 2nd, no big deal. It will also upshift under WOT to upper gears. I'm running new PS2 tires, so the tires are not a problem. And with Pulley, ECU, and Filters even the 295s will smoke very easy.
And yes, Vegas streets are not very good for high HP vehicles.
