HELP! squeak while accelerating...

I have a had a squeak from the car when accelerating from a stop when I have the window open. It sound exactly like tire aqueak, but it occurs also on sand and comes little after the car has started moving, which sort of tell me its not the tires. The car accelerates normally etc., but I hate it when sounds that have not been there before appear. Could it be some kind of belt sound from the engine?

Any ideas appreciated before I go to the shop and they tell me everything is fine, but the squeaking continues.

Thanks! How did I not connect these two? I thought the kompressor clutch symptom would be more dramatic. Will keep in mind when I go to the shop.

No sure how you connect them but from what my SA try to explain it to me, our E55's use a dry clutch system and the squeek is from the metal.... LIke i said do a search on supercharger squeek and you will find numberous threads with explainations.. But I think the updated supercharger clutch pack will take care of it.... It did mine..

Is it a 'chirp' type sound that seems to come from the front of the car, a noise that occurs on acceleration at around 2-3k RPM? Or a metalic squeek from the rear of the car on acceleration and braking?

Only acceleration, if I am moving a little bit, and yes it is a chirp. I would say 2-3k rpm is too much. It occurs when the car is already moving due to the gearbox pull with low rpm about 1500 and then I accelerate.

Thanks for the tip. They changed the toothbelt and kompressor clutch pack and all is well. No squeak!

I have to say for only the 2nd time in my life I was really satisfied by the service quality here in Finland! I have nothing to say but good about the MB service quickness and quality so far here. BMW service was really poor and one main reason why I tried MB for the first time in my life.

It's the supercharger. MB is very aware of this. They issued a "tool" that fixes it - the tool arrived at my dealer last week. My squeak is gone and my car is running much better.

What type of tool might this be? MB refuses to address my concerns with rough engagement on my SC.

I don't know what the tool is unfortunately - they just referred to it as a tool. If your car is still under original or CPO warranty they should fix it for free. I got my car fixed at MB of San Diego - perhaps you could call their service department for more information. Supposedly they are one of the first to receive the tool. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

It will be free if your car is under original or CPO warranty as my car is. I have no idea how much it will cost but the repair took less than one day so you could figure 4-8 hours labor. I don't think they replaced any parts.

Wonder if I should get this fixed before my cpo runs out in October. If this is "normal" & is just an annoyance when the window is open maybe I should just leave it alone?

I've grown to like the chirp now that I know it doesn't do any harm.

Hi - I would definitely get it repaired before the CPO expires. I can tell a difference in performance. Besides, a $90k car shouldn't squeak when you hit the gas. Like it or not the squeak will be noticed when you go to sell.
