Dollars to Donuts "Last Emperor" in the C63 section would throw the money down. He shines like the North Star when it comes to fiscal responsibility. Supposedly, and this could once again be Nissan's crack viral marketing team, 70% of US-bound GTR's are spoken for. I can imagine half of these will be flipped.

That's what happens when you build cheap stuff....it breaks. Sure, it's fast, but it will never have the reliability and build quality of a Benz.

Those DUB style rims insult the lines of the car, and I hate seeing oversized wheels on a performance car. As for overall looks, I love it's futuristic sports car aura. These magazine numbers have been inconsistent, so I mind little attention to them. When owners begin privately running these things at the track, we will gain a more realistic perspective about the capabilities of this car. But bear in mind one thing, in OEM trim, that motor is DETUNED. Much like the 65 series Benz's, it will take but a little bit of BPU to uncork some real power.

If this forum is any example, the words "reliability" and "quality" are mutually exclusive from the word "Benz" over the last 5 model years.

When the GT-R prices at the dealers returns to planet Earth, I think it'd be very neat toy in the garage for a little while. It's not a 997 Turbo or a 997 S, but then Nissan never claimed it to be...would be rarer than an E92 M3 I think.

Unlike the Audi R8 - dealer called me on Saturday to see if I or anyone I'd know would be interested in paying $50,000 over MSRP for one in their inventory...

What's the mileage on your CLK BS and do you use it as a daily driver?

From personal experience, the '04 SL500 I had was pretty painless ownership for the two years and 11,000 miles or so, except for the recalls on the SBC system. My parents, on the other hand, have had an awful time with their '05 E500 4MATIC wagon in terms of problems.

The E63 is going on 12 months (7/31 delivery) and just under 7,000 miles now and I've not had any problem with...except when my wife rear ended someone while driving it just before Christmas, but that's no fault of MB manufacturing or QC...

Right. He probably is in a delusional state and mistakenly ordered the Porsche GT Silver Metallic. I think Porsche is the only mass production car company that charges 3K for paint alone.......

Totally agree. Having spoiled by the TQ on the E55 and now the 335xi, there's no way I'd choose a high-revving engine again based on my driving style, habits, and routine (mostly city driving). The history of the GT-R is not to be neglected because when they were first introduced in the Macau Grand Prix, they literally swept away all the trophies and left the AMGs, Ms, and Audis in dust. I think the presumed target of the GTR is actually the Porsche 911 Turbo and although it's not as refined, it nonetheless is a class of its own.

In this soft economy, trying to sell a car over MSRP is simply nuts. There are more than 7 M3s sitting at my dealers lot at the moment, even with no markups.

Don't know why a 997S is being thrown in here...

While the exact performance specs are still the subject of some debate, is there any doubt a GTR would blow away a 997S and is roughly on par with a 997TT?

While Porschephiles could argue with some validity that a 997TT is worth the premium over a GTR, would anyone say the same for a 997S?

...would be rarer than an E92 M3 I think.
Well, of course. But that's not saying much. The E9x M3, much like its predecessor, will probably have the highest production run of any ///M or AMG

AMG
I still think they are too fragile for what they are... then need fluid change every 3000 km if you drive them hard ETC.... they advertised it as a supercar for everyday but it looks like they made a car that will be in service alot.... And that where Nissan aimed to make money on it.

I like it, but I'll observe it for another year and then maybe i'll get one!

The reliability of the R32-R34s are great. Pretty low maintenance if you are the first owner and don't beat the living crap out of them. I used to have a R32 GT-S living in Hong Kong.
