Test drove the new m3...
Me and my cousin test drove the new m3 this past weekend. It was white with black interior and the leather-carbon fiber dash. Its pretty quick. We took it up to 110 mph. Once you winde that thing up it really pulls up top. Just wanted to share...

i bet it sounded great too! m3's have always attracted my attention. they (3 series) seems to be the only modern bmw's that really look good from all angles.

last week I attended a so called "M Performance Day" at a driving school in the international circuit of Misano and tested M3 manual, M3 with DKG gearbox and M5
M3 is much easier than M5, smoother driveability but lacks a bit torque when exiting from curves ..
DKG is really fast, but only ... when it understand correctly. I mean, if you want to put in a lower gear when entering the curve and the ecu feels that will cause hitting revs limiter .. it will not accept the lower gear and .. you are too long! there is no way: my teacher tried himself and even after switching off all controls, it was the same story.
I think it's the first mod must do!
must say that I enjoyed much more driving the M5: in P400 it goes more or less like the M3 .. sure it is heavier, so more difficult and slower but .. when you push P500 you'll feel that 100hp difference and I liked a lot its gear box too: even keeping it in S4 it got much quicker because it's "Adaptive" and would say already close to the M3's DKG ....and you begin hearing the bang bang when changing at high revs
I have a video of both when driving .. but always look at the M5's
only, would have liked to test something still wilder, like
... my AMG

i also like the sedan more than the coupe. the coupe looks too much like a 335i.
the sedan is more agressive IMO.
DCT isnt out yet. they just started production in june, first one wont be outprobably till september.
but personally, for 70k, i just dont see enough of a performance advantage over a 335i.
look at it this way u can get a new 335i for about 45k.
add 5k for piggyback ECU, coilovers, exhaust, and a LSD, and you will have the same horsepower of the M3, with MORE torque for 20k less.
you can splurge for a nice set of wheels and some carbon fiber trim and still pocket about 15k.
to me, the 335is debut really killed M3 sales/desirability.

are you sure?
if thats the case then maybe it was sent to the states in june.
something to do with June, whether it was production or availability.
anyways, ill take my E46M3 over an E92 anyday.

Positive. There are posts on M5Board with members getting DCT M3's in May. Dunno about 46 over 92. Very anxious to see what HPF does with the 92.

My cousins had his with the DCT trans since mid may.. Ive driven both 6spd, and DCT, and even though id much rather drive a 6spd anyday, the DCT is amazing! The car feels much faster with it.. Think this is the only way to get it..

it was nice, but honestly, ill take my modified E46M3. with my E55.
hell, ive driven enough 335is to say ill take a 335i pocket the 25k, spend about 5k and make it comparable to the E92M3 and keep the extra 20k.

and another factor may be the 6spd. with SMGs, DCTs, and all thse multitude of "f1 style" transmissions out there, 6spd is a thing of the past. its like having a Pentium III computer these days.
i guess im not like one of those old school people who has to have a true MT. fck that. i want the technology, esp if it makes the car faster. MT doesnt automatically make a car more fun to drive 4me.

a car that gets very poor gas mileage.
Are these things being sold with a markup?
There's at least 5 of them right now in Valencia BMW. One sedan and four coupes. That Interlagos Blue looks pretty sweet.
