Thumbs up ATAP runs with Cm30 installed

With help from this forum, was able to verify via ATAP a bad stock IC pump.

Next day aired a new cm30 pump in. Before the install, made a long hwy trip first to log data. IAT at hwy cruising with bad pump were 174 deg.and just passing a car would lead to 210 iat - 230 iat. OUCH! 9-10 deg timing at those IAT`s only. I agree with other post that there has to be hundreds of people running around and not know they have a bad pump.

Installed new pump and as everyone has said very easy. About an hour and 10 minutes to do and that included just looking at things and doing some cleaning.

IN Houston today, ambient was 96 deg and very humid. Ambient was 90 after pump and new test.. Engine temp stays at 196-200 deg all day and after pump change.

Changed pump and IAT would stay at 126-130 deg combo driving and then under WOT runs would never go over 155 deg.. Within 30 seconds , right back to 126!! I wish I had stock numbers on a good pump, but don`t. Made 8 hard, hard runs and every time a very quick recovery to 126 IAT.

Timing is now running 14.5 -16 deg. at WOT..Is that normal for this heat? Seems a little low but do not know ...

Colder T stat will go in this week and then ASP pulley right after that. Have to get temps under control first..

thanks for taking the time in sharing your findings. Did your car run noticably slower with timing being pulled, that would be nice if you had checked the IAT on a good IC pump too.

It ran noticably inconsistant is the term I would use but again the average 55 owner may never notice this. That is why I updated my ATAP to start checking things out. But yes, when the timing pulled and of course fuel too, it ran slow. Most may just think it is the hot weather and in a sense that is true but just add another 80 deg. to the IAT`s over normal.. Not good!

Jackpro1, Pulled the 2008 C6, two out of 4 runs while IAT was assumed to be colder. 2 other runs were to close to call. First run and then 4th run after a long drive to another spot to run from 55mph (IAT was probably still 160-175 then on cold runs). Any back to back runs and the motor would fall on its face. ATAP a few days later confirmed how bad IAT`s were and timimg. Fuel trims were also being pulled. This A6 vette has some brutal gearing with a 4.06 first gear ratio (I think). I prefer to run these c6`s from a slow roll or dead stop. Either way, they are a great race and close in ET. To many of them just to not know about the 55 motors.. Tried to take on two more this morning and they both looked confused to why this Benz was jumping all over thier door..
