No longer stock '06 E55, A3 3.2 Quattro, LRD4 HSE, R107 280SL
On an aside the recent TopGear programe (which really has lost its way of late) were completely floored by the GTR. For £53,000 here in UK it has to be one of the biggest supercar bargains ever...

Stig tested the GTR on that episode. Same time as the Scuderia around the Top Gear track.

Fact of the matter is, there will always be new products coming out that will eek out an advantage from previous generation products and other manufacturers' products - until someone FINALLY introduces a compact plutonium powered reactor in the AMG or the M, or maybe even a Quattro, that produces 1.21 gigawatts...until someone makes one that punches out 1.22 gigawatts...

Kudos to GM for the Corvette ZR1 and the CTS-V, the General needs some goods news these days as its share price lingers slightly above where it stood during the Eisenhower administration.
Not really, some people just need to realize that the CLK BS and M5 aren't in even remotely the same class (a stripped-out 2-seater with full aerodynamic components vs. a full-bodied cruiser), and the new CTS-V was purpose made to eclipse the numbers the M5 put up over 3 years ago.

GM is showing that they can do some serious engineering, if only they could learn how to stitch a decent interior we'd all be pretty psyched (although the new CTS' interior is worlds better than any previous GM car).

They gotta cut costs somewhere bro. I knew when I bought my Vette I wasn't getting the plush interior of an SL as do all guys buying on a budget. You want more, you gotta pay.

And I wouldn't try to compare the ZR1 to an M5...I doubt BMW is embarassed by the ZR1's numbers as they have nothing in common. The CTS-V; however, is a very nice package (especially for the money), but again, this is comparing brand new technology and power to that of '06.

Sky, I hear you're meeting up with me and Rob Thurs...sounds good my man, we'll talk. Peace

How is a 140k car beating a 70k and 100k car embarrassing...

I wouldn't count your chickens before they hatch. The GTR V-Spec is on the way and from what I've read it should be a pretty close match if not beating the ZR1 by a second or two. Check it out.

The interior of my 08 C6 with the 4LT package is beautiful. The equal of my E55 and former 335 and M3, or maybe a little better.

I built a twin turbo c5 z06 which is probably very similar in suspension and transmission to the c6 or c7. I know it is almost exactly the same as the c6 vettes, obviously better for the c7, but i tuned it on the dyno and at make 685 whp, only on 10psi, then we turned it up to 13psi and 735whp, and it would only break tire loose in a little of first and if you power shifted the **** out of it a little of second. it had 305/30-18 mickey thompson drag radials on it, but none the less, for that much power these cars break inertia real well because they are in the low low 3000lbs mark. I'm sure you can fit a massive tire under the new ZR1. honestly, the only thing i dont like about these LS motors and boost is that they start lifting heads with high power. I wonder if GM followed their C5R 6 bolt head design on the ZR1 to stay away from head lift.
