Generally speaking, I really don't care what people do with their cars. I mean they own it--if they want to paint it pink or glue fur on it it's no skin off my nose. But why someone would take a perfectly fine 100k SL that 99.9% of the population would kill to have and attach fake 65 badges (and what look to be custom floormats!) to it is beyond me. And what really boggles the mind is why the dealer selling this car didn't put it back to stock, and apparently thinks the "upgrades" enhance its value (let it be "your private little secret"). What a couple of goofballs.

They don't fool anyone, but themselves. It is the ultimate admission of inadequate self esteem.
Even a SL55 is not good enough, sad.

sucks for the new owner....
imagine being on the road and a 63 models pulls up and beats the crap out of you. thats a crime what they did to it! I hope the new owner removes that crap...though they probably wont...

4 wheeled car.
lol. It doesn't even have the brakes, who is he fooling? And the stitching on the seats and carpet...man, that guy is a pathological liar! It's so funny the extent people go to fool others into thinking they've got money or a fast car. The SL500 is by no means a cheap car, leave it alone clown, it carries status of its own.

Perhaps that explains the seller's ebay rating:

I agree with other posters. Why not just debadge if he doesn't want to go to the expense of replacing the originals? I would laugh my *** off if I saw that in traffic. Maybe it comes with a personalized plate "POSER".

That's the part that really fascinates me. With 300 million people in the country I can see there being a douchebag or two out there who would f*** up a really nice car by turning it into a posermobile, but what are the odds that he sells/trades it to a dealer who apparently thinks this is a great marketing tool? I mean the dealer is supposedly in the car business for crying out loud, and if he has more than three live brain cells he has to know that most people looking for a nice SL500 wouldn't touch that car with a ten foot pole with those phony emblems on it. The mere fact that he didn't have enough sense to either debadge it or replace them with the correct version would prevent me from considering anything he sells at any price because I have to assume he's an assclown.
