Out Of Control!!
Next saturday they are calling for very cold weather (Hi 43) and rain on friday. We may run into the same dilemma. Very cold temps are bad for traction. I wish I could just take a vote but people take time to respond and some people may not even see this. Can you guys at least give me til the end of the day to make the call? Til then can everyone try to give me as much input as possible so I do what the majority wants??? Thanks
Edit: I tried to get sundya as the rain date but they have test and tunes scheduled. As of right now I'm leaning towards postponing it a week in hopes of better weather.

Thank you.

End of the day works for me, thanks again for the consideration.

If it gets canceled this weekend I will not be available to attend next weekend or the following weekend. You gotta do what you gotta do, can't control mother nature. Please let me know one way or another, I have to cancel hotel reservations with at least 24 hour notice.

F it the weather is not going to get any better it's November on the eastern sea board there could be 6 inches of snow on the ground in a week. I say we go for it, worst case we spend the weekend partying

Here is what worries me:
http://www.weather.com/weather/wxdet...D0266?dayNum=4
The following weekend is supposed to be cool and dry with a high in the 40's. With traction, THAT's 10s weather.
Like I said before its a tough call. Different people forecast different things for this saturday. I know if I drove all the way from the midwest for a track day and it was cancelled due to rain I would be pissed. I want to make the most informed decision possible

You left out the important part of the forecast

They must have changed it again, it was not on there earlier. I copied and pasted it directly from the site.

Kinda a weather buff here.
I would go with the Nat weather service. Weather.com is just computer trying to forecast all over the country and can be pretty inaccurate.
From the Baltimore office of the Nat weather service, looks like you guys are gonna be between fronts with the cold front coming across the area later in the PM Sat. HOWEVER, if she slows down which they say might happen, front would come in later Sat eve. Sunday is looking killer.
The test-n-tune is open for all I think on Sunday so I say green light the event and if you get rained out, shoot for Sunday test n tune. Obviously some guys would have to head out Sat night.
He's nuts but Cruise has got the wisdom on this one. "Sometimes you just gotta say....what the F"
I say go for it.
From Nat Weather Office in MD
THE UPSHOT OF ALL THIS...CONFIDENCE IS HIGH IT WILL RAIN THU/THU
NIGHT INTO FRI...THAT IS WHY WE INCREASED POPS FOR THIS PERIOD
DURING OUR LATE MORNING ZONE UPDATE TODAY. THE QUESTION IS JUST HOW
MUCH RAIN OCCURS. LATEST HPC QPF PROGS ARE ON THE LIGHT SIDE AT WELL
LESS THAN AN INCH FOR THIS PRECIP EVENT. BUT GIVEN THE HIGH PWAT
VALUES AND THE POSSIBILITY PRECIP FALLS IN BANDS...THEN A 24 HR
AMOUNT ENDING 12Z FRI COULD BRING LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS IN THE ONE
INCH OR SO RANGE. WE CERTAINLY NEED THE RAIN. BUT IT IS STILL TOO
EARLY TO FLAG THE QPF AMOUNTS PRECISELY...AND ANY CONVECTION
OCCURRING TO OUR SOUTH THU/FRI COULD IMPACT QPF AMOUNTS UP HERE.
ON FRI...12Z EURO MODEL IS CONSISTENT WITH EARLIER ENSEMBLES IN
SHOWING A WAVE OVER THE SOUTHEAST MOVING THROUGH THE REGION BY FRI
AFTERNOON. THIS SHOULD CUTOFF THE STEADIER PRECIP ON FRI MORNING.
THE AIRMASS IS MILD ACROSS THE REGION FRI INTO SAT...WITH TEMPS
EXPECTED TO BE ABOVE SEASONABLE NORMALS.
FOR SAT...A STRONG COLD FRONT IS POISED TO CROSS THE REGION ON SAT.
TIMING OF FRONTAL PASSAGE APPEARS TO BE SAT AFTERNOON...SLIGHT
SLOWER THAN SHOWN ON THE LATEST HPC PROG. EXAMINATION OF THE TRENDS
IN THE ENSEMBLE OVER THE LAST DAY OR SO HAVE SHOWN A CONSISTENT
SLOWING DOWN OF THE FROPA FOR THE WEEKEND...AND MIGHT EXPECT THIS
TREND TO CONTINUE FOR A FEW MORE RUNS.

Jakpro1- What does it predict the forecast to be next saturday? Test and tune on sunday is always an option but usually you'd get lucky to get 3 runs in the whole day.
Most local guys can wait for a last minute decision on the rental since we dont really have to travel far. So its the guys coming from far away that are taking the risk. What I could do is keep the scheduled date and those coming from long distances can risk coming down if they want but if there is precipitation it will be postponed to the following week. There is always the test and tune on sunday. I dont really know what to do right now, some people want to keep the date and some want to postpone it. I understand both sides, postponing it makes more sense to me though. 40% chance of precipitation is pretty high

Well I have a little under 2 hours before I need to start canceling hotel reservations, I have until 6 eastern time to do so or I get charged either way. There is no way I can make it next weekend so have fun

Thanks for the info, and I don't envy your position.
We'll do the best we can with whatever you decide.
Thanks

Would you still be able to make it next saturday? Its forecast to be much better racing conditions
#694
Thanks
If we do decide on the 22nd, for those that can't make it, we should try to put together an ATCO rental in December. As long as it isn't snowing, we should all trap like *****.

Based on the current forecast I believe it is in the best interest of the participants to postpone the track rental to next saturday Nov. 22nd. If you could please spread the word I would appreciate it! Thanks. Also, if you prepaid and want a refund please let me know
Andy- I would be in for an ATCO rental in December but I'm not gonna organize it!

Ahmad, your last post was unclear, should I assume the event is cancelled? Does anyone want to go to Vegas this weekend? Let me know, I'm gonna book my flights as soon as Ahmad gives me an answer.

Yes Jim, the event will be postponed. I'm sorry. If it rains on saturday you will thank me for not wasting your time and money. Your refund is on its way

You must have posted that one while I was posting my last one. Thanks for the info and have fun next weekend.
