I doubt I am even close to the "average" owner profile....36, male, married to a race car driver, love cars and would like to have a large car collection but living downtown and trying to run a racing effort eat any extra space and funds available to do so. As a compromise, I buy and sell an average of 1.5 cars per year to feed my addiction to 4 wheeled toys. Of which I am compelled to buy virgin examples at a premium and mod them properly thus ensuring that I will loose maximum amounts of money when I am done with them. I suffer from a nasty case of high-end-itus so I can't accept compromise or mediocrity in any area of life which means that I am a slave to my hobbies which include watches, art, and high-end audio. As to income, I make enough to afford my afflictions comfortably. I rarely buy new cars as owning them for 6-24 months on average would net too great a loss so I generally go for 1-3 year old examples and let the first owner take the hit. I have never found a car that is perfect or that I have wanted to keep for any length of time. I am happy if when I sell a car I suffer a net loss of between $500-1400 per month excluding mods. Within reason, I could care less what the car costs, just what it costs me to own.

As an interesting aside, I have lost the least on M cars ($250-500mo) and the most on AMG cars ($1000-1400mo).

If I had a larger bank role and space, I would own a 288GTO, '94 Turbo 3.6 Flatnose, 993 GT2, 996 RSR, Caterham R500, and a McLaren 10B in a permanent collection as these represent to me the closest things to perfect cars.

You said it. When I take my cars out, I'm usually wearing shorts and t shirt. I look a little young to own these cars. I once had a CHP slow down once to let me pull along side him in my Fcar. When I got off at my exit, he pulled off too. He got along side me at the light and eye balled me hard. I wasn't speeding or anything. I just gave him the thumbs up, smiled. And then he made a turn.

I was rethinking my "profile" and was thinking that the following was more appropriate:

36 year old male, can't afford wife or kids due to cost of gas so I had to sell them, no house as I must live in car due to cost of gas and tires, environmentally irresponsible, likes to reek havoc on local streets with lots of tire smoke and loud screeching noises. Income....not enough to pay for gas and tires that the beast requires. Mostly hang out in the 7/11 parking lot to minimize the cost of gas, improve chances of getting luck with some looser chick and use the bathroom for free as I can't afford a house due to the cost of gas and tires. Oh, did I mention gas and tires?
