I was on 280 bay area with wife and my kid. with adapt cruise control at 70mph. F@*king red M3 was tail gating me.

I slowly increase speed. to give me distant between us. nope. still tailing me...
enough of this..
WOT.. and so did he.....70-90 still behind me. 95 started to pull ahead. let go at 120 and about 1-2 car length ahead... Yes, he was still at WOT... cuz he cut to my right lane and had to slam on his brake due to traffic in front.

I though they are fast.. I guess not fast enough at high end speed...

it was pretty ugly too, red ext and red int.... too red for me...


my only mod is 80TB.....

Its more dangerous to drive somebody on your tail than blasting away from them.

However 120 is a bit too high with my kids... 100 probably max.

Back to the story...

he was behind you.. so don't expect to get passed by stock M3 E92.. if he was next to you and has M-DCT it would be a tough pull...

Were you driving 70mph on the fast lane on 280? If you were, that's too slow on that freeway anywhere north of 85. Most people would have tailed you to have you move over.

Wife would threaten me with castration if I took the car up to a buck-twenty with the kids in the car.

Funny part is my kids are always begging me to do it. I give um hard pulls 0-60 and they start booing when I let off.

70 is too slow on all of 280 ... has nothing to do with north of 85.

Just out of curiosity...what is the maximum speed you should go with kids in the car? My first reaction to the OP was the same as some of the other criticisms...I too won't go over 85mph with my daughter in the car. But when I started to think about it...is it about the speed itself....or the potential legal impact? What if we had a derestricted Autobahn in front of us... would you feel differently?

Interesting and insightfull question.

Personally, I don't think speed in itself is the issue. When and where you speed would seem far more important. I see no problem in driving at triple digit speeds for long periods of time with my son in the car when the conditions are right. No traffic, a wide open hwy in the middle of nowhere, a car designed for it, in good condition with good tires.

Slaloming through traffic while racing at high speeds on conjested roads is just insanely dangerous and stupid and I won't do it.
