Did we ever get a final answer on this? I'm looking to go buy the SL55 snorkel, but I want to know if it's worth it. Is there one out there (S55, anything) that's a complete fit w/o modifications? What's the part # for the s55 snorkel?

Okay so...
We decided to go ahead replace the drivers side intake tube with the SL55 drivers side intake tube (product number A113-094-1682).
First we took out the stock intake tube. We took the new SL55 intake tube, used a heat gun and a clamp to slowly mold the shape of the front end to match that of the stock tube.
Then, simply stick it in where the stock tube was. We had to compress the accordion part of the tube while installing and it takes a few tries to get the intake tube to match directly with the front air baffle.
Overall the process itself took about 30 minutes and cost maybe $9.50.
Hope this helps anyone who has ever contemplated doing it!

eh,for those doing this, the part number is A113-094-1782 (driver side), not A113-094-1682 (passenger side).

I have to ask ... what's the benefit in those tubes over the stock ones?
Visually, I don't see it.
I'm contemplating making some intake tubes (Although the test in the other thread on IAT's showed the tubes create more heat so I may rethink making any in favor of just removing them.
But if I make some ... Based on my experience, with intakes I've made for custom bikes ... they won't have smooth interiors.

The driver's side snorkel for the E55 has a pre-fabricated dimple in it to unnecessarily accommodate some wires/piping nearby. From the looks of it, this dimple cuts the diameter of the hose down to almost 75% of what it should be. The SL55 snorkel doesn't have this dimple.
