Replacing headers - what's involved?
Looking at getting some short headers soonish - what's involved in replacing the stock ones?
Could an exhaust shop do it for me on a ramp? Or is it more involved?

Depending on the make. If they are like ours, than it will take around 4-5 hrs.
If they are more like unequal length where the bolts are hard to get to, add couple more hours.
Good Luck!

It'll look about like this:

VRP installed mine with nary a hitch. Alas, they’re a bit far for you.
A competent performance-oriented technician can easily handle the task.

Installing shorties is a DIY project if you're so inclined, but the time estimates given above are rather optimistic for a first time installer, whether he's an amateur or a pro. I did my Evo shorties in my garage, and I can assure you it took more than 5 hours, but then I wasn't doing it for pay, but rather for precision - like installing the new gaskets correctly and actually torqueing to spec the nuts and other **** things like that.

Everything is bolt off and then on, so the pain in the butt part is which header you go with. These bays are small and that was a challenge in finding a good design. Honestly, I think the "best" header would need the motor "shifted" from side to side to be mounted properly. Other than that, I don't see us being able to runn fat enough equal shortys.
If you DIY, consider using a lift. It makes a world of difference.
