Have any of you installed this Flat Bottom Steering wheel?

Have any of you guys installed this steering wheel?

With two kids now I'm looking to get my butt out of my M3 and into a '04 or '05 E55 but I don't like the stock steering wheel. I really like the look of thest two steering wheels... the all alcantara wheel might be a bit too aggressive for my taste but the wheels on the bottom would be perfect IMO.

What do you guys think?

Check out the original thread in the C55 forum:

The flat bottom one only works on late production 05's and up.... Needs the newer SL style airbag also.. The electronis are different from 03-late 05's apparently... There are many threads about this wheel. Search CLK63 Black Series steering wheel.... I had this wheel and sold it due to the chopping of wireing that some do to get it to work.. I now have the all leather MP Designs wheel.. Much thicker and sportier than stock, and its a direct replacement...

Those are reworked factory wheels. Not the real BS flat bottom wheels, so you will not have any electrical problems.

Top one is a W211 wheel for sure, but look at the shape of the airbag area on the bottom pic.. Those are the newer style that i believe will also not work on the earlier E's...

I didn't realize older E's had a different steering wheel. I knew the E63 has a different steering wheel with the better paddle shifters vs. buttons on the older E's but wasn't aware there were different wheels between the 03's-06's.

I read somewhere in the original C55 thread that you received $100 back if you returned your old core to the maker of these steering wheels which led me to believe it was a simple swap. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can chime in.

I'd still love to see if anyone has been able to get one of these steering wheels fitted to a 03-05 E55. I was hoping it would be a plug and play affair.

Look into the MP Design sport wheel as it is completely plug and play with your existing airbag, etc. Here is a link to one in birds-eye but it is also available in all leather for around $1,000 retail.
