A warranty question.

Can 20 inch rims cause the control arms on an E55 to go bad?

I took my car in for service and I asked for them to be inspected. I had a feeling something was wrong from a noise that I heard. So the mechanic sad they were bad on the drive side and the passenger side.

an inspector from the warranty company came out and said the 20 inch rims cause the problem and it's not covered.

I just want to know the truth because there are many e class mercedes out there with 20's.

Can 20 inch rims cause the control arms to go bad? My E55 is a 2004

Dude, that sucks. Who is the aftermarket warranty from? Yeah, they can say that. What is wrong with the arms? Bushings or bent?

i won't know the exact damage till this afternoon when I get the parts. I know for sure the bushings are bad. the warranty company is portfolio. I bought 5 year or 100K Plan F - Hi-Tech Coverage. trick *** *****es said the rims cause the damage. I'm thinking if that's the case, there will be many people with the same problem. I smell BS.

your'e in OC...I hope you are not taking your car to FJ of Newport. They will never fix an issue under extended warranty.

I have been around the block with them and I'm not even modified, I don't think the techs could find the cupholder if I complained about it.

gluck...and find another service department!

yeah I just spoke with an adviser at HOI and he told me the rims would not cause the problem. I know my car was at laguna. I am considering small claims court to prove a point. It's bad business to deny a claim for the sake of saving money.

I don't understand this at all. It isn't like the dealer would be out money?

Oh, then that makes sense. I guess I'll always go for the third party warranties then!
