'M' automatically shifts - is this correct
Hi,
I have been reading a few posts and it seems that if you are in 'M' mode, it should not change gears and hit the rev limiter. My car shifts up automatically at roughly 6500 RPM. Is this correct? What is the rev limiter set to on an E55? I also have an ECU tune and pulley upgrade and wondering could this be having an effect. Thanks for you help.

In M mode what gear do you have selected?
In my car, M mode, if I have 2 selected it shifts on its own 1-2 @ 6500
but if 1 is selected I hit limiter.

Mine will auto shift in M mode. I know it does when in 2,3 or 4 but have to double check 1st.. Pretty sure it auto shifts in 1st though. I was suprised the first time I tested this out too.

Older models shift in M mode when they get to redline, newer models hit limiter.
Not sure in which year the change occurred.

Hmmmm....... strange
I thought in Manual mode, the car is not supposed to shift by itself regardless of rpm until the rev limiter kicks it off. Mine will not upshift in M mode.

I have an 04. Mine WILL shift from 1st to 2nd in Manual (M) mode. It will happen without hitting the rev limiter (keeping below 5000RPM) when I'm feathering the throttle. So frustrating. Especially when drifting when trying to control a little wheel spin.
I'll try a reset... I really hope that is the fix!
Oh, and hello to everyone! I'm a new 04 E55 owner (6 days ago) and I'll be around here quite often - so we'll see you around!

2004 e55 amg 10 days
I have had my beast 10 days now, in M still have autoshift, very frustrating indeed. I see several posts but no difinite answer on this. Have you reset your ECU yet?
