Check Engine Light...Help needed.
Guys I need some help in figuring out what's wrong with my car before I take it to the dealership. I started my car up this morning and as I reached the end of the driveway, my car felt and sounded different. It was making a sputtering sound. So I pulled out and before I even made it two houses down, the car wouldn't accelerate, made a louder sputtering sound, and the car was jerking back and forth with some force. I barely managed to pull into my neighbor's driveway with the car sounding like it is about to die and the check engine light starts flashing. I idled back to the house and the engine was now violently jerking back and forth as I pulled into the garage. I had a meeting to make so I took another car for the time being.
About 4 hours later I returned home and started the car up and let it sit for a minute. I pulled out of the driveway and the car seems to be running okay now. However, there is now a steady check engine light. This has me stumped. Any ideas?

My buddy has an E63 and the same thing happened to him. Motor running really badly, jerky etc....Turned out it was a camshaft position sensor and it shut down the entire cylinder bank. Dealer fixed it in one day, no prob. YMMV...

a jerky or unbalance engine running mostly miss firing problem or improper signal of sensors to ME control module
This could a several possible cause:
1) some electrical connectors (sensors/actuators) are loose
2) vapor lock in fuel system (could be fuel tank lack of fuel)
3) battery under voltage
since that was check light comes out, the exact answer will be the engine store/current faults which is display on diagnostic computer.

I had the same thing on my 2007 E63. Car goes into safe mode. 1attime was a steering angle sensor. Kept happening and the the second big issue was the accelerator pedal sensor. After that was replaced it happened again and I ended up needing a new me module ( Engine Module I think) . It all works perfect now..
