Talking Toyo R888's

Anyone running Toyo R888's on factory AMG rear wheels? I am thinking of replacing the rear tires on my factory E55 AMG wheels. (I live in the desert and never drive the 55 in the rain. Comments will be appreciated.

They are very good, I'm running Michelin Pilot Cup's on my car, which are the only R-compound tire available in 19's. If R888 came in 19's, I would be using them

Drove 800miles one way down to Sacto at roughly 85mph, roasted the crap out of mine.....ran 11.4, the drove um 800miles back home. Still driving on them although they are about gone now. Best part is THEY GET BETTER AS THEY GET CLOSER TO SLICKS!!!

Greatest tire I have ever owned. Long as you aren't a rain driver, let the good time roll.

Actually they do come in 19's. A 235, 295, 3xx, and also a 265 but I don't believe this size has made it to the U.S. yet? I would have been very tempted to go with the R888 if the 265 was available here.

Thanks for the heads up, looks like they were recently released in 19's, because when I was shopping for wheels, they definitely were not available. Do you know if RA1's are available in 19's? I believe RA1 is even better for occasional drag racing, while R888 is more of a road racing/auto-x tire.

I use these tires on my M3 track car. They are great. They surely provide fantastic dry grip, just be careful if you get caught in the rain. Mileage will not be great but the traction will be worth the low miles.

I have been running a these front and rear all summer and couldnt be happier. Yeah gotta take it slow in the rain, but rest of the time they are amazing! think I am about halfway through them at this point. Just gotta last til Nov15(MIR) then throw some all seasons on for the winter.

Fr33kn63: What kind of mileage do you think I should get out of them? I'll probably take them to the track once in the next year and mostly street/highway driving other than that!

Thanks for the reply!!

Well over 5K on mine now. I think they have about another 2K or so left.

Bought um used from SleeperX who roasted them at the ETown a couple of times.

haters crazy
I have em on my kinesis wheels and they did great on the track (road course) and street. I definitely recommend them.

I also had the RA1's prior to the R888's. The RA1s were sticky too but the R888's ar esupposed to be better and replace the RA1's. I have cut low 1.7x 60's on the RA1's. The R888's are too wide for my car and rub on launch so I will probably sell them. It is odd becaus ethe RA1s didnt rub in the same sixe, I guess the R888's are wider even though the tire sizes are technically the same!

I have done 3 track events. and have about 3500k on them. I am guessing with a few more track events between now and the Nov15 MIR event. I am hoping to pull into the MIR event at or below the wear indicators so they will be alot like slicks.
I think 6-7 track events and about 7500k miles at the most.
I also keep my Psi(cold) @ 34 front and 36 rear, except for track events and then 40 psi front and 25 psi rear.
without visiting the track I would expect about 8-9k on these tires.
Hope that helps answer it for you.

Next spring I will buy a new set of these same tires for next race season

Paul @ Radial said the R888's, even when sizes are the same, have a slightly wider footprint. That probably explains your rub

No, I don't believe the RA1s come in any 19" sizes. The following source for the Toyos was recommended to me: www.racetire.com As you can see they have the 19" R888s, but not the 265, which isn't even shown on Toyo's official web site. Perhaps racetire can get it though, I never bothered to ask.

I think Fr33kn63 was able to buy the 265/19 in the UK, correct?

What about Nitto 555R drag radials? They come in 18's and even 20's apparently and would probably be better for E55 since they are specifically designed for drag racing as opposed to road-racing R888's
