small leak detected in EVAP..help.

so what does this mean? my engine light came on this morning and my shop is closed til monday. the car drives normal, but haven't hit any high speeds. Also, in park, i hit the gas an it won't go pass 4k rpm.

insight anyone?

thanks in advance.

evaporative emissions systems draws the fumes from the fuel system, sending them back through the engine, instead of letting them evaporate into the air. most common cause for a system leak is a loose fuel cap. scanned my friend's daughter's BMW wednesday night, same thing. the guy that pumped her fuel (love NJ), left the cap loose. start there.....

remove it and check the seal as well. the system works under vacuum, so there is air entering the system somewhere. pop the hood, look for any worn or cracked lines. not sure where it enters the intake, but you should be able to nose around and figure it out. its probably comes in somewhere near the throttle body.
