19" huge lip wheels
Hey guys, I'm looking for some 19" wheels with a huge lip, 4.4 - 5" lip on rears. No chrome, brushed is my fave. I want to start doing some road course racing and when I go to the 1/4 track I don't want to change out the wheels. They must look show quality and race ready also. Any ideas? Give me pix and links.

If you want wheels you can use on the roadcourse and the dragstrip you might want to look at 18's because they give you a better selection of sticky tires. I poste din your other thread and mentioned I have some 3 piece kinesis k18r's that need to be refinished if you want them to look show quality but would serve as great track wheels. They already have 235 PS2's in the front and 275 R888's in the rear

CLS has pretty aggressive ets as it is. What size lip do you have now? I don't know if you could add more than an inch or so without going thinner. How thin of a rear rim are you willing to run?

I can't race with my current wheel/tire set up, no traction and not enough rubber. They are also 20's. . I have HRE C21's with DR on rears but they are not good for road course. I figure a good set of 19's will be a do all size. Drag, coure and daily driving also must keep my car looking show quality

Rick as yiou know you likely will have a difficult time finding a wheel that meets all your driving needs. My RS 118's(Champion were great) brushed but no lip to speak of. Most light forged rims have smallish lips.

Look at the 19" CF5ive, get the lip brushed it would look sik , be light and the CF would make yer ride stand out. Check out Jordan's CLS on page 11 of the 360 catalog under the CF line. Looks great.

I would think most wide lipped rims would be heavier than a more performance oriented rim like a CCW or BBS. As far as road course and 1/4 mile tires...the Toyo R888 would be a good match to say a light weight 18" BBS or CCW rim...
Sorry I couldn't help and I love a wide lip look but I couldn't find one myself when I looked...

Unfortunetly as Blackbenzz already stated the only way to get the best of both worlds would be to go with a 18" set-up. I guess you need to ask yourself what aspect is most imprtant to you. Is it the looks/style, drag race performance or road race performance. As you know you are not going to get the killer aggressive look out of 18's. The 19's are going to offer a little more aggressive look, plus great road course performance (with correct tires) but you are going sacrafice a little at the strip becasue you will be restricted to a DOT R compound road race tire. DOT R's are great for road racing and can be decent at the strip if you get the air pressure correct.
If it were my car and you only wanted to invest in one set of wheels and rubber it would have to be some 19" wheels with Pirelli Corsa or Michelin Pilot Sport CUP R compound tires.

This would be sweet then put sport cups all around, 305/30/19 265/35/19
do a 19x 10.5 rear and 19x9.5 front
IT will be SPECIAL

For what it's worth, Here's my CCW SP500 19x10 with a 295/30 PS2. Not exactly the fattest lip out there but I thought this may help. There are several threads out there about the 285/295/305 widths on 18/19" wheels. Check out the rubbing marks on the inside of my fender from the beefy 295 PS2's on 10" from a couple years ago. It was pretty much undetectable at normal speeds, but WOT produced the infamous "wiggle" discussed here ad nauseum.
