Engine Oil level Check

I tried using the reset button method to actualy see how many quarts of oil are in the engine.. it came up as 7.8q. Now I know the car takes 9q and the check oil says the level is ok... so is the rest of the oil in the filter + second sump or am i really down 1.2q of oil?

i'm curious about this as well. I did the dyno mode check and it shows up at 6.4L of oil. That would be low wouldn't it? Yet I haven't gotten any warning messages about filling up the oil.

When my car was running it consumed oil pretty rapidly. I would start off with 8.5 quarts and the warning wouldn't come on till about 6 quarts. Seems pretty much like what you are experiencing so I would consider that "normal". From my experience, that's a lot of oil to have in a 5.5L engine with a relatively shallow sump so a couple quarts down doesn't seems to be a killer to me. I would try to keep it topped off though.
