Datalogger in hand

Anyone in SD that wants to check out your car, let me know. I finally put some numbers to my IATs with and without the airtubes inside. max was 120 with and 170 without. The sad thing is it takes a while to cool off without them. I haven't figured out how to get A/F ratio yet.

Which air box are you using...VRP's or Renntech's?

Jangy, I lived on mountain ,in summer here in NM I got 95F or 100F all time and very humitt and my K3 E55 got 110F on high way and 115F on local . BTW I got spacers,PTE160F,C090 pump run all time , code3 HE and 120z water wetter mix with MB coolant . I think you should get CM90 pump and mix water wetter to the coolant to bring your IAT down , actually you got cooler air in so.ca .

This might be a dumb question, but where is the measurement being taken? Also, is this moving or idle?

When I get my pulley back I might take you up on that offer. Can that thing check for boost? I am positive that my S/C shuts down, so I will need to so something about that, hopefully this can shed some light on what or how I can fix that.

Tried making a run to 140 one night in Mexico and the car just stopped accellerating at about 125ish... Extremely disappointing.

I got an older version (serial port) Autotap and a 3130 Innova. Shows percent throttle, IAT, boost, timing, etc.

I haven't figured out how to get A/F ratio yet.
I tried and tried to get a/f's but finally gave up and purchased the Innovatative Motorsports wideband that you clamp to rear tail pipe. It's radical as you have to drive around with wires and clamps hanging out of the back of your car, but works KILLER. I can hold the unit in my hand as I hammer it and watch a/f's change in near real time.

Maybe not the best idea down in So Cal, but up here in the boonies, noone cares.

( I gave up as the readings coming off the O2 sensors are just voltage and or not very accurate from what I have concluded. Accurate meaning converting voltage to actual ratios. They WILL tell you if you are super rich or lean which is good)

The problem is that the oem 02's are not wide band on the 55's. Which I believe they changed on the 63's.

I used a little gadget called "carchip"

its not real time.. but records my daily commute.

IAT, engine speed, MPH, timing.

The boost feature is not very good.

I'm just worried about timing and IAT's at this point.

so far.. I'm in good shape. I hardly have ever reached 140F.. only if I hit 110+ on a 95 degree day.... but my recovery is pretty quick.

Hey, question everyone:

I have a Carchip E/X, which I actually won back at CES 2007 because the our company's exhibition booth was right next to Davis and I got in one of their races and won this unit. My question is, I used the thing on my 2006 yukon xl denali and it worked fine. I want to use it on my E320 but noticed something interesting on the web site about cars excluded. It said that cars with tiptronic transmissions may experience stuttering if a carchip is used. Any of you guys have a problem with this? Are Benzes considered "tiptronic" because they are not like Audi's or BMW's in the design and functionality?

Yes, the MB trannys are tiptronic. Dunno what you mean by it not being like the BMWs, but it is. It isn't SMG, but that isn't tip.

I don't think so, or I am so far removed from the BMWs. the last one I had was a 2000 328i and it had nothing under Drive. You could just go left and right.

Either way, I'd get more info about compatibility. Maybe you can contact the companies technical services to make sure it has been released for use on a benz. Or, at least make sure you have a plan in case something gets toasted.

Yeah, I figured the best thing to do was call them. Just wanted to know if any of you guys using it have had any problems. Was gonna post it for sale on ebay but eh, I got it for free and it is a handy device. Just the reset check engine light alone is a great feature. Really needed that on my 94 S420, that thing would not go off. Eventually the light bulb burned out, lol.
