W211 AMG Discuss the W211 AMG's such as the E55 and the E63

2006 E55 - obsidian black, all options except pano roof - gone but not forgotten
just a thought

does anyone else here think the the e55 with a 7 speed tranny that could handle the torque would me a more enjoyable care to drive then the E63?

Aside from the ability to handle the torque, the 7-speed is geared for the much higher revving 6.3, and would not function well to the rpm ranges of our motors.

The 55 has such a wide power band, even the 5 speed is over kill. The 63 on the other hand has a narrow power band and needs more (2) reductions and closer ratios to keep engine in the power band. Unless you love to shift an auto box, 7 speed in an E55 might be a little busy. I must admit a 6 speed manual in an E55 would be interesting.

If we ever see a super charged 63 it will be interesting to see fate of the 7G.
