Insurance rates? Got a surprise today
#28
I pay $231 for 6 months full coverage on the E55 or $462 for the year. However I put the car in storage for 4 months during the winter so it drops to about $60 for that period. My total annual policy is $1480 with a Lexus, Acura MDX, E55, a trailer and 2 recreational vehicles. All full coverage with $500 deductible on the autos. USAA, no tickets or accidents in over 10 years. And there is a rebate each year depending on how the financial year went for USAA. Usually a couple hundred dollars gets put into a subscriber savings account. I have over $3000 in that fund.

I pay $950/year total for a 2004 E55 and a 97 Porsche 993. Full coverage on both. But I am an old guy (60) with no tickets and also insure the house with the same company which is Erie Insurance.

So I was a bit succesful in getting Progressive to reduce the rate, but it appears that $1,520 is the best they will do. Unfortunately my wife renewed the policy on 9/4, so I'll re-open my search process again in February, when the current policy expires. This is for three cars (Excursion, Mazda 6, E55), with the e55 and truck at low mileage (6K/yr) and the Mazda 6 at 12 K/yr., $500 deductible and 50/100/500 liability. No claims, clean driving record (all tickets gone) for my wife and I.
Just sold the E500 and Turbo, surprisingly small reduction on total policy cost as the Turbo was very low annual mileage (3k/yr) and the E500 only 10K/yr.
Thanks everyone for all the info, it helped a bunch -

04 - 06 e55 Wagon - looking for
FYI, I just called AAA for a quote on adding an e55 to our policy today. I am about 2 miles from you.
15/30/25K property/500 deductible
$948/yr 5K - 7.5k miles
$1026/yr 7.5k - 10k miles
$1095/yr 10k - 15k miles
$1328/yr 7.5K miles max at 15/30/1 Million property /500 deductible
I wrote these numbers down pretty quick. I'll PM you when the quote comes in the mail.
I have a few tickets on my record, been with AAA for 8 years. Those numbers will drop due to multi car discount and also if they can write insurance on my house (though I don't think they can come close to what I am paying now for home insurance).

FWIW, I tried AAA in the past but they would not cover the Turbo or my Cobra as a new customer. Turbo's now gone and the Cobra is with a specialty/classics insurer (for only $420/yr).

I have nothing of substance to add here. I just wanted to post my utter SHOCK at the number of people with 500hp and "no tickets for 10 years"!!!
Just wow!!!

I still drive like (to quote a friend) "Mario on speed" (but not sure if he meant the Super Mario or Andretti variety) but have learned to have better situational awareness (i.e. don't blast past clumps of traffic, watch out for the "onramp swoop", etc.) and I use every electronic aid available.
In my younger days I twice had my license suspended, including spending a night in the Apple Valley jail (don't try to outrun a cop when you're driving an old Italian beater!

I can't believe some of these rates! 900$ , 1200$ a year on your E55s? Am I missing some thing here? I pay 3800$ a year in NY with Geico.

Curious what everyone is paying for E55 insurance...my carrier (Progressive) just increased my premiums by $230/mo for the E55. That is almost twice what my Porsche 930 premium is, and more than twice the my E500's rate. The E500 I can understand, but the Turbo is classed as an exotic and (I would assume) has a similar replacement cost and risk. ![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
No tickets (wife has 2, both speeding
), and we have 4 cars insured, no claims in the last 7 years.... So Cal area, only 12K annual mileage on the E55...seems like time to start looking for quotes from other carriers!

Try Wawanesa insurance. They don't have the middle man and that's why it cheap. Their headquarter is in San Diego on Friar Rd.

AMG E55, Stage 1, Strait Pipe from Primary Cats
$2700 for the Beast (no tickets/accidents, $2M TPL, $1000 ded)
$1925 for the bike (no tickets/accidents, $1M TPL, $500 ded)
$2100 for the Subaru Forester (no tickets/accidents, $2M TPL, $1000 ded)
You guys have it good down there! I'm in the insurance biz and this is the best we've got. Well, not the best, but my insurer doesn't know about my traffic violations. I haven't tried to move it (and I know I could get less, but not much) cuz they'd pull a drivers abstract and they wouldn't touch it. Better to let sleeping dogs lie!

His wife crazy
Man, you guys are getting raped!! NC, Geico, $716 a year. That's with a 5 year good driving history and 2 comp. claims due to animal encounters, one of those over 9k on my '08 STI vs. 8 point buck.
OOPS!! Make that $717.00 a year. And that is for full coverage, 100,000/300,000 with a $500 on collision and $250 on comp deductible

$1228/year USAA 500 DED. 100/300/100 No Tix/Acc Looks like the rates are all over the place. You would think it would be more uniform than that. I thought that was what competition was for.

well - where you are located makes a big difference --- San Diego is not the cheapest place for insurance because car thefts and the border being so close.

I have similar rates to the ones posted.
Gotta pay to play in the land of So Cal sunshine. The lifestyle & weather make it worth EVERY penny compared to other parts of the country.
