what performance mods for $1000
I may have the opportunity to spare $1000 to put into the 03 E55.
What performance can I do for a $1000

Add a CM30 Johnson pump to that (150.00) and bye-bye 1000.00

If you plan on doing more mods in the future, just go with cooling for now. You can get either a LET or a Code3 heat exchanger, with a new CM 30 or CM 90 pump installed for under that amount.
It won't be super noticable now, but it will make a world of difference later on.
In my opinion, that is a much better move than a pulley with no tune.

Not personally, but based on the experiences of those here, results have been mixed.
Some people think it's great, others have had issues with the ecu "detuning" the car as it saw too much boost.
Either way, there is NO harm in improving the cooling in these cars, which becomes more of an issue with higher boost.

The stock johnson pumps that come with E55's are not good. If you get a better johnson pump like the cm30 it will prevent your supercharger from turning off. I also ordered the H/e from code3 but they refunded me money because they have no H/E in stock. My s/c turns off on me all the time after a couple full throttle runs stock, so I don't want to imagine getting a pulley without an upgraded pump and h/e. The only thing is you get no power increase from a cm30 pump and h/e. It's going to keep your cooler which is a good step before you add things like pulleys or whatevr.
