where to find salvaged W211 E55 K engine for custom project?
I have been considering putting a W211 E55 kompressor engine into my 2001 Clk430 and was wondering if any of you fellow MB enthusiast know a salvage yard or website I can find a W211 engine and tranny?
Thanks

EXTREMELY difficult to find cheapos from wrecks. Believe me I HAVE TRIED AND TRIED!!!
Potomac always has a motor ready to go but hold onto your hat for the price.
We are super super close to entire 03 55's being almost near THAT price at auctions. Course they are usually beat to death already but still.

There's been one in the classifieds for awhile. I think they recently posted that they had sold the transmission though. No idea of price.
They also surface on ebay from time to time.

Hey if you are gonna buy Potomac's engine, then at least consider the god of hellfire they have too.

!!!!!
Man that is expensive I can buy a used one for that, the tranny isnt even included! Thats why i am trying to find a wrecked one, I have seen used entire cars for sale around 25K. Paying 15K for the engine only is @#$%ing crazy! I figure i can find a wrecked one around 8-10K and pull the engine and tranny! BlackBenz why did you change your mind what is involved?

Hey I really mean it, if you do find a salvage yard that has a motor/has had a motor, let me know.
No way in hell I am gonna pay 44k for a new motor when the time comes and I am covering my bases now. Heh, with 700hp, she can't last too long now eh?

Out Of Control!!
Just off the top of my head... Getting all the electronics to communicate (biggest obstacle), custom driveshaft, price of engine/trans/ecu, etc etc. I'd rather turbo my current motor and leave a E55 in the dust. But if you can get it to work it will be a real beast! Its much lighter than a E55 and mor enimble as well. Good luck

I heard talk of you turboing(Is that even a word) your 55
I would think after going through the process of putting a turbo on, it would be just as difficult as an E55 swap? When you say getting everything to communicate you mean ecu, tcu, supercharger clutch etc?
