New E55 = $70,000
I could NOT believe what I saw/heard just now on TV:
PBS' AUTOWEEK just reviewed the new E55 - 0-60 mph in 4.55 seconds...and then concluded, that the PRICETAG IS APPROACHING $70,000!!
...don't they wish, those journalists.

It'll be much more than 70K right?

Definitely more than $70k. I mean the CLK55 i saw at my local dealer has a list price of $70,124.00 which doesn't even included taxes and dealer markups and all.

I'm still sticking with my target MSRP of $74,000-$75,000 despite most posters suggesting closer to $80,000. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part because in today's day and age, whatever the cost it will be a stretch.

I have been posting/guesstimating a price around $73-74k since June 02. I have been verbally beatup and 'hated on' for my guess. My guess:
$72,500 No Comand
$74,900 with Comand
See this previously posted article for similar amount:

hmm, if the E55 is only 2-3K more than a CLK55, who will want to the CLK? I mean, for "only" 3K more, you get a MUCH more powerful engine, and much more car.

After just recently getting an E500 and knowing that a well-appointed E500 will run about 62k - 63k, and considering many of those options are standard on the E55, plus all the performance appointments, I can virtually promise now it will not be less than 80k

S55 is ~$107k. I think the E55 will be $81-$85k base, giving it good distance from the S55 and CLK55s. They won't want to have Audi outpricing them (degrading them?) with the RS6. Every car line seems to be looking to make more expensive models, not cheaper ones because they make bigger margin, even if they sell less.

Kev - The ever shifting dynamics of geo-political equilibrium seems to have focused a great deal of cosmic energy and power within the northern area of Virginia and the federal district located across the Potomac recently, with the future of the entire known world hinging on the decisions made here...as sick as that may be.

No matter what the price even if $72,500 etc. I will be envying all those who will be able to step up and drive the new W211 E55. I will still be driving my 'old' and 'slower' W210 E55.

That $88,000 figure was quickly retracted on the website version of the same exact article. It seems to me MBUSA told the big three US auto mags to expect the base price of the W211 E55 to be around $75,000. Motor Trend & Road & Track both quoted $75,000 and the $88,000 figure of Car & Driver was quickly changed to , surprise $75,000.

If you look at Eurozone EX-VAT pricing, it's right at $75k base as well... I realize that means little as many things differ, however the euro-pricing on the E500 is very close to US pricing as well... IMO, $75k base, $84k well equipped.

My sales manager (have bought 4 cars from this guy over the last 8 years) at the dealer told me - $80K.
Kaneman's $75K to $84K seems correct.
