ESP light blinking when coasting

Very recently I noticed that when I go around long sweeping turns (like an on-ramp or off ramp) and I am coasting, the ESP ! light starts to blink or flicker. It usually occurs at highway speed? My car only has 12,000 miles and just go new rubber on the rear. Any thoughts?

The yellow blinking triangle = loss of traction, determined by differential in wheel speed or at limit lateral acceleration determined by speed and steering input angle. If you go faster the throttle will be pulled and brakes applied to maintain stability.

If you are coasting, it is most likely pushing. As the fronts begin to slide, ESP is QUICK to kick in.

This is weird though. You are at highway speeds 65 or so on a long sweeping offramp and ESP is kickin in??

Or is it more highway speeds of 85-90 on a long sweeping off ramp??

I don't corner half as much as Jangy but don't ever recall that happening.

Gotta go try it out now.

I do it on and off ramps all the time (just for fun). The front just pushes so hard with the 245s. the intervention is actually very smooth and you don't even notice it. You can hold your line and gas and the car modulates to get you through. This is why fatter tires up front was a must.

Anyone ever measure their Gs in a turn with a PBOX or Gtech?

I actually held a 1.05G with a spike to 1.1G measured on a PBOX. I was pretty impressed. Much higher than the auto mags suggest, but I do not think any of them have tested a P30 car.

The ESP intervention is a bit of a pain in the a$$ sometimes, I just dont have enough experience yet to comfortably take offramps with it off.

As Jeremy Clarkson said "You eventually get annoyed and you turn it off. But be aware... if you do that, you'd better be awake" Something along those lines about the C63. I wish our cars had different levels of ESP. That would make it perfect instead of the one level that we have now, "stereotypical Jewish mom not letting her kids play in the dirt cause they might get dirty"

Truth is that you can very much tune the ESP by playing with the weight distribution of the car. 1st and foremost, adding 9 inch rims and 265s (minimum) to the front makes a huge difference.

If you aren't comfy going without ESP on ramps where do you let her slide? I love a little drift as I slide off the ramp and onto the freeway...
