Thanks for the info Tracshun!
888's still aren't slippery by any means though. My 11.4 just below you on dragtimes was with my Toyo888's.
Looked online and there is a red hot debate on whether the 888's are better than the RA1's. Most debates are autocrossers/road track guys so I guess it wouldn't apply to us anyway. Maybe a reason the 888's don't "stick" as good is that they supposedly have an even stiffer sidewall than RA1's. Wonder if that hurts us even more.

That's what I'm talkin' about.
Hard to believe this car has ANY type of limiter on it after how it has been running so consistently and flawlessly. In fact, I had it up to 176 mph with a passenger for confirmation (and verified by GPS) when I took a trip to Mexico recently and the car was still pulling like a freight train.
Now, before the LET custom tune, it WAS a completely different story. Car literally "topped out" at 140 mph.

This is what blows me away. The Toyos are literally road racing tires with an ultra stiff sidewall. The BF DR's are semi-slicks and I was even told by the BF Goodrich rep that death was just a matter of time if I started cornering hard on my DR's. He said a lot of autocross guys started using DR's and got good results.....til the sidewalls gave out on them. Ouch.
Just weird how we are able to run so fast on road racing stiff sidewall tires blown up to near 40psi. Another beast mystery I guess.
Oh and in case I haven't said it today.... on your time again!

At the end of the day, if I can pull as good (if not better) times on Toyos, as I do on the BFGs, and get the following benefits:
1. Drivability on the street (wet and dry);
2. Cornering safety; AND
3. NOT have to air down to 21psi,
than I will convert in a heartbeat. The increase in trap speed alone from the higher psi in the rears would be worth the switch for me

Thank you SO much for the tip on the RA1's Trac.
My 888's are about shot and I just snagged some brand new RA1's off Ebay.
I totally thought they were all gone.

The T1-R is not an R-comp, but has excellent wet weather operation and grip for a 1.67 60'. This wouldn't be the ultimate performer, but rather the ultimate compromiser.
Have you looked into the Nitto Invo yet? I've heard good whispers around the track....

The 888s are not recommended for wet operation AFAIK, and the RA1s are only suitable unshaven.

Haven't looked into the Nitto's yet, but I will now. I have used Nitto DRs in the past on several other cars and have found the BFGs to be much more conducive to lower 60's.
Bottom line for me is every time I see DJE55's launch on those RA1s with a 1.61 60' it is a thing of beauty. And, from his previous posts (and videos), it appears that 1.6X 60's were commonplace with that tire at full psi!! This will be hard to beat with any tire. I have launched on the BFGs at just about every psi in just about every condition, and I still have "only" pulled 3 or 4 60's under 1.70 (although 2 were 1.65s )
Let the testing begin...
EDIT: Almost forgot - all my other 60's with the BFGs (with the exception of one or two botched launches) have been between 1.70 and 1.78 (about 20 to 30 passes) - VERY consistent performing tire in ALL conditions, but I am looking for that little "extra". Hence, the discussion.

Anyone else had any experience with comparing 60' times between the two Toyos?

Out Of Control!!
Were you able to make any passes with the 888s before you took them off due to rubbing? Did you have any "heads up" comparos with the two different tires on your car in similar drag conditions? If so, what pulled the best 60' times?

excellent results. I ran derek on the old video of 10.95 and stock I have had several 1.75 60 fts on my old cont's vs my PS2's. With my new BFG drag radials with traction control on my 60 fts suck 1.8's mostly. But I want to ask you how much $ are we talking about for what they did for you. I am interested in representing Georgia with a Stage 1 result like yours.

New P2s Suck at the dragstrip!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Twice now I have been to the strip only to experience a two tenths loss in et. At 60 ft I am 1.81 to 1.85 vs. 1.75s before, At 330 I am 5.2 or 5.3 vs. 5.1, At 1/8th 8.0 vs 7.8, At 1000ft 10.3 to 10.4 vs 10.2s, Quarter mile 12.34 and 12.39 vs. 12.15 to 12.17. The rear P2 275 is 26lbs vs 25lbs and 25.6 tall vs 25.2 tall on the Cont's. Front tire is 25lbs vs. 24 on tire rack specs, Mich v Cont. Rides great but my et sucks. Tried different pressures w/o change. Conts always had 35lbs air pressure. With traction control off I have marked up the streets around my house with P2s. Cont marks faded fast P2S repave the road with dark marks that fade slowly. Obvoiusly Mich is harder compound and .4 difference in height killed some gear ratio
