508 rwhp and 589 rwtq: What's the conversion into crank hp and torque numbers?

My buddy just dynoed his 2006 E55 and put down the following numbers:

508 RWHP and 589 RWTQ

What are these numbers at the crank?

He installed an ECU, pulley, headers, 80mm TB, resonator delete, larger heat exchanger and pump. The car fulls like a freight train and is making me second guess getting rid of my 55. His car truly makes my car feel like its running on only 6 cylinders.

Thanks!

Divide the numbers by .83. I can only imagine the feeling of how hard that pulls.

The most widely accepted conversion is 18% for Merc Auto 5 speeds...

IE... 508/.82 = 619 Crank HP 589/.82 = 718 Crank Torque...

But as Jangy noted Crank #'s are kinda because all that matters is what's being put to the wheels..

Thanks for the info guys.

The only reason he was wanting to convert the figures was because he was an idiot and did not run a baseline run before the mods.

619 HP and 718 Torque at the crank sound almost too good to be true, especially the torque gains.

Do his dyno numbers sound realistic for a fully modded E55? He's not a drag racer, but I am curious what kind of trap speeds his car can turn assuming he has traction?

Thanks

stock numbers are aprox 410-420whp. I think fuel quality will play a roll in power output especially with our crippled 91 octane and ofcourse weather conditions. where did he dyno at? are those sae numbers or uncorrected? the beast must feel wicked!

I don't know where he dynoed it, but it was at a shop in Southern California. I also think he is running a blend of 91 and 100 octane. I do know that they are SAE numbers though.

He now has a serious traction problem.

well that really narrows it down. cocktail mix with race gas is always good too! what tune is he on? it would be nice to see the graph.

How much would it cost to do all that to an E? Those numbers are as famous as the mythical clitorous.

I usually get my wheel numbers and do a 17% drivetrain loss. But I'm a n00b when it comes to that stuff so I would say go with the veterans and do the 18%...aka wheel # / 0.82...

Hot dayam I wish I had numbers like that!!!

If you don't mind me asking...what company did he choose to go with the parts? Kleemann, Renntech, VRP, Evosport, LET???

the numbers could vary a lot in meaning depending on what type of dyno he used. a dynapack or dynojet will tend to read higher than a dyno dynamics or mustang. so if one of the latter two dynos were used, the numbers are much more impressive.

Very nice numbers on your buddy's 55. I'm also interested to know what parts he was using.

Great numbers but peak HP is overrated; its all about the hp thru the range.

I would love to see the sheets to see the curves on the car.
