AMG Performance Tour
So I attended the AMG Performance Tour today. Very nice production, with a C63 on a dyno to do 0-60 and 0-100 mph timed runs on, and several exquisite AMGs to test drive, including a SL63, C63, E63, S63, and CL63. They had two SLR's on display as well.
Being pressed for time and due to the really long line waiting for the SL63, I opted to test the E63, since it is the successor to my E55. Having never driven the E63 engine before, I was interested in comparing it to my car's driving experience.
It's old news to many, but I was disappointed with the feel of the engine. It just doesn't have the low end punch that makes driving an E55 such a pleasing visceral and compelling experience. I give the E63 kudos for a softer suspension feel, but felt the brakes were a tad too grabby for my liking. The seven speed transmission was nice as well. Overall, a very nice car, but certainly doesn't move the bar up enough to even make me consider it a successor to my 55. As always, YMMV.

Being pressed for time and due to the really long line waiting for the SL63 BS, I opted to test the E63, since it is the successor to my E55. Having never driven the E63 engine before, I was interested in comparing it to my car's driving experience.
