Belt Screech at start up
Belt Screech at start up
Car is in for service and told the dealer that the car sounds like an early 80's Chrysler K car when it starts up. Once the supercharge whine calms down, you can hear a screeching sound coming from the belts. Is this normal?
Dealer can not recreate and stated that some noice from the SC clutch pack is normal.
Once it warms up, it goes away.
Thanks in advance.

sounds like your belts are worn, replace the belts. usually if it goes away once car is warm that means belts b/c the rubber warms up and grips better as it warms up, then when belt cools down again they lose grip and it screeches. Replace belts before you do anything else. Belts are dirt cheap, with labor should be under $200 to do both belts.
I can hear the SC whine but the screech stays. I have tons of pics of the Typhoon, someone help me post them and I would love to share.
I just called to see if I can get new belts installed.
yea the screech doesnt sound normal to me. replace the belts and you should be fine.
