questons re: lowering
Is an alignment necessary afterward? I would think it would affect camber and other settings...
How much lower would the end result be versus the stock "low" mode? Would the stock "high" mode be lost (and replaced by the modified high/stock low mode)?
Is the handling much improved or is the benefit mostly aestheti?
Thanks in advance.
Yes. These are not machperson struts, so the angles always change. Pick a height and have it aligned for that height to minimize wear.

You can easily lower it about 2". It is MUCH lower than the stock sport I and II modes. It just lowers everythying. Once lowered, raising the car gets it to about OEM height and the comfort, sport settings still do their thing.

Both. The module will lower the car beyond what is needed for handling. You will feel much better wheel response, turn in, stable ride, etc. It is all a compromise.
So sounds like ride quality isn't compromised too much then...?
Has this cause people to have more issues with Airmatic? ...and thus warranty disputes? (I've got warranty thru 7/2010)
1. Star lowering.
2. Mercedes OEM Links
3. ELM (electronic lowering module)
4. A combination of any of the above
if you want info on any of the 3, just shoot me a PM and I'll be more than glad to explain all the differences.
Or modifying your own links
All links suck (I've done them all), but for links i like the OEM ones off of the S series.
