06 SL65 / 97 993tt /11 Suburban/ 2012 GTR (AMG è la mia Famiglia la Bestia è la mia protezione)
It was repurchased by Mercedes because of an engine issue. The repairs were made by the manufacturer and this vehicle now meets all factory specifications. The Mercedes dealer replaced the engine short block and left/right cylinder heads.
I'd get that baby really checked out first...VIN check, vehicle inspection, and let them throw in an extended warranty before I would touch it...

2001 E320 RWD - Brilliant Silver/Ash: 100,000+
Risky investment if you ask me. As stated earlier, I would only buy it with a CPO warranty and extend it as long as MB will let you (7 years from the date it was first placed into service). BTW, they all top off at 100,000 miles.

<edit> Nevermind, that is not being sold by a MB dealer so CPO is impossible. I would pass on that puppy if I were you.

Wonder where the heck all the motors are!!!???

There has to be quite a few 55'S wrecked each year, yet they just vanish.

There is the one at Potomac right now which has been on the market for years. Other than that...ZIPPO!!

With these babies coming down into the 20's, motors have to start going for cheaper than 12-15k soon.

Oh, sorry to hijack.

I agree, the cheap price could come back to bite you with just one supercharger or tranny toasting.

I would definitely get a certified MB mechanic to check it out thoroughly. If it's all gravy, damn what a deal. I thought I got an excellent deal on mine.

Too close to warranty end. If it were about 20-25K miles, I would chance it.

BTW- That is correct, no extended warranties on a CPO. MB won't do that.

Just doing some shopping and came across an Ebay seller (a dealer in Arizona) warning about these type of ripoffs...cursor down and you will see their ripoff notice...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...3A1|240%3A1318

In Arizona and Texas they don't have to legally notify buyers that a car is a lemon law/buy back car. The scam is that they buy these type of cars in California take them to Arizona and Texas for sale. These dealers get them at buyback auctions and "wash" their titles in their respective states...passing them off as lease returns and indicating that all mechanical issues have been resolved.

Any reputable dealers would still consider them salvage cars...getting a VIN report is a must. I guess if we see California, Arizona, or Texas involved plus a price too good to be true then it is too good to be true.

Very scary being so many cars come out of those states. I saw an E55 on autotrader.com for aroun 21,900 with 130K on it...Now it makes sense.

No longer stock '06 E55, A3 3.2 Quattro, LRD4 HSE, R107 280SL
'06 14k miles perfect E55 going in the papers here for under £20k, thats around 30k$...

For someone wanting a monster what a bargain as long as you got a decent warranty, and cash to spare.

Bentley GT's going for 50k£, late models low miliage.... and they are not moving. The Ferrari delaer down the road has his lot full of prime stock. I cant see how he is going to survive having all that on his books unless its on consignment.... walk in there with a cheque you could easily walk away with the business.

Actually walk in there with a cheque and you could walk away with two cheques and the business.........

I hate to point out the obvious but you get what you pay for. There is no way I (or most others in this board) would buy a 90K mile E55 so the only way to get rid of one is to give it away. Most of us will gladly pay more for a low mile car and I would say there are several E55 price breaks...10K, 24K, 36K, 50K, 70K, 90K, 100K. Every time a car passes one of these milage marks, the value drops (regardless of it's age and condition). The value really starts to plummet when you get past 50K and is slaughtered at 70, 80, 90, etc. There as too many great E55's for sale with 10-24K for sale at good prices for this not to be the case.

I agree with Blacksport350.

However, on the other hand, at 50k, the AMG motor is just barely broken-in.
