I thought the 9500 was the best of the passport lot?

I use a Valentine 1. Its saved me at least $900 so far.

You're nuts driving without one.

Also for people in Cali, is it legal to have in the car?

V1 saved me yesterday.... I was basically sleeping at the wheel going thru the crest of a mountain at the toll both and the thing went off well in advance.

I had forgot to put up my transponder and was doing about 80. I had well enough time to put the transponder on my dash and slow down before I even saw the CHP unit. So the V1 saved me a speeding ticket and toll evasion charge (no transponder present).

Of course it has saved me on many other occassions with both front and rear radar detection.

Hi Vic,
Are you talking about 241/261/73? Got couple tickets there... SOB so hard to slow down when it's one of the better condition roads you can find~
Thanks for your inputs~

Idk how much the 9500 is, but the V1 unit itself is $400. There are also some things that you might want to get with it...

Concealed display:
https://store.valentine1.com/store/products/20110.htm

And see whatever you need from this page. I suggest you get an extra of everything, its worth the risk of paying for it twice to get stuck without it til the replacement comes.

The website itself is www.valentine1.com

And definitely get it hardwired. There's nothing like the ugly cord sticking out to ruin the look of your car. If you live in SoCal you should contact Serg... He's worked on a lot of people's cars around here. Let me know if you want his info.

Edit: And yes, radar detectors are legal in Cali

Yep you got it, top of the 261 heading down to the 241 ... V1 for the win...

Too bad I didnt have it when I was going 160+ luckily the officer pulled me over when I wasnt going so fast. I still got a 22348B (over 100 mph- 2pts- 30 day suspension) ticket but my attorney got me off.

The best defense system is to pay attention, scan the roads and do not do any more than 3-5mph over the speed limit! I have a V1 but I have not used it since the Arizona heat melted (almost) the suction cups and it fell into a cup of soda and that was in 1998. Save the high speeds for the track and you'll be ok.

Don't get me wrong I love a little run down in Mexico just as much as the next guy but it's just not worth it!

comprehensive report on the stinger.

Stinger claims "longest radar detection available"

Has anyone had the opportunity to play with one of theses?

I have both the K40 Calibre and the Escort 9500ix...if I had to do it over again. I'd get the 9500ic and Laser Interceptor laser jammer kit.

I have a K40 calibre in my jeep. It sucks.

I have an Escort SRX in my E55 and it is much much better, especially on Ka band which is what most of the local police use around here.

I bought a V1 for my wife's GL450. I have only used it a couple of times. Makes lots of noises. I will put it in my E55 and see how it compares to my SRX.

Had a Passport 8500, and the range on the SRX was almost identical.
