Im in san antonio so this would be an easy trip for me.
just have to get the trailer.
if you can keep the price down that would help me alot. my bar has been in the ****ter last few months so money is tight.
did you think about marion? the owner is an *******. but he could use the money so he might be cheap.

HOUSECLASS; did you have a chance to speak with your old manager to see if he can hook us up in ANY way possible? Two lanes would be very cool, please push for that. Let him know we are not bringing a bunch of old jalopies and there is almost no chance of us oiling down the track, let him know the majority of the cars are all road going M-B's.
Does anyone else have any feedback or opinions? What date works better for the majority 1/24 or 1/31? Let me know I want to get a date locked down early next week.
I just did some research on the national weather services website and drag times, It's quite possible that we could end up with a -800/-1000 DA at GRP in January. It appears the last two weeks of Jan and the first 3 weeks of Feb is traditionally the coolest time of the year, with very little precip and low humididty.

Hey Jcart! talked to my old manager (gerald) and he said that he could get both lanes done but that was about it. he doesn't work in the managers capacity anymore...seth is one of the owners son's (his dad glen passed away couple years ago) and runs the place now. sorry i couldn't be more of a help as promised but i tried! seth is a difficult person to work with...i'd squeeze every nickel i could from him on the track rental.
as far as tracks...HRP is the best...always has good track prep, great air in the winter and good emergency crew...most people don't think about this but i've seen a 11 second car blow a motor and get in his own oil...barrel rolled 5 times on top of the guard wall on the big end. you never know whats going to happen and everybody thinks it won't happen to them...this is a major reason someone should consider running at a track with the jaws of life and an ambulance on site! just ask my brother (busa 196)...got struck by lightning at 11,000 feet on a moving motorcycle...anything can happen at anytime!
just my $.02 worth

John, thanks for making the phone call, two lanes is better than one lane so that is a victory in itself. I guess it is looking like Saturday January 24th will be the date for this event. Who do I need to call to set up? Should I continue to speak with Seth or should I contact a different person?
One thing to consider before booking...how will they handle the rules...NHRA states any car running 11.50 or quicker needs a roll bar...I know your car is running faster than 11.50 and it would suck for you to travel, pay and then be told you can't run faster than 11.50...check with Seth before you do anything.
The reason they are firm with the rules....when I worked there (1995-2002) we had a guy that rented the track in a high seven second car...he wrecked the car, the car caught on fire and he wasn't wearing his gloves...he suffered some burns on his hands...got with a layer and sued the racetrack and the owners under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act...in essence...since we let him go down the track without his gloves on, it was our fault for not enforcing the rules...gotta love lawyers!!!
Let us know what they will let you do!

I just got a phone call from the owner of the track, he wants to know if it is cool if 5 or 6 guys from the local C6 Corvette club/group join us on the 24th. Appearently they had a couple events get rained out and keep trying to reschedule and they want to do it on the 24th. I told him I was fine with it as long as there are no more than maybe 8 of them, but I told them I had to check with you all first. Let me know what you guys think, personally I love beating up on Corvettes, especially Z06's.
I'm going to start a list and post it with the names of people planning on attending. The track need an approx head count a week before hand. You guys can pay at the gate with credit card or cash only, no checks.
When talking with him on the phone today he claimed that it is common for them to have -3000 DA at the track in Jan and Feb because of jets streams and weather patterns off the off the Gulf. He says he's seen -4000 does this sound possible? I thought MIR was insane, is -4000 even safe without a re-tune?

I plan on attending. I asked a quick question to your post in the events forum. Basically if I bring a friend who will share in driving my car will they charge for us both since there are two drivers or only once since we're driving the same car?

To the best of my knowledge you only pay per car, but there might be some waiver issues with switching drivers. I have let other people drive my cars at events before without having to pay but I can call to find out for sure.

You are suposed to pay per driver.. On a regular track night, they ask you at the gate, how many driving and how many watching.. 20 per driver and 10 per spectator.
They just have no way to know who the driver is, unless one registering has ***** and the one racing does not..lol

If you would please. The cost is not a problem but I wouldn't want to bring them all the way from Dallas and then have them not be able to race.

[QUOTE=JYOO;3201929]...thanks for the boost of confidence, but out of about 20 M-B's at the track that day I know there was at least 3, (maybe more) that were quicker than me, my car should run 10', so yes, IMO I crapped out.

I have compiled a list of attendees based off of PM's and your above responses on this thread, if I am incorrect in my assumptions please advise me of your intentions. I know this is still 7 weeks away but I want to keep an accurate count so I can give the track their approximate head count one week prior as they have requested.
Attending List
JRCART
Exotic-Metal55
houseclass
///AMG4EVER
bfnnrgn
Busa196
Maybe List
MHP (Andy)
MARKOCL65
shardul
theeddie
tjav8b
It also looks like there are two people from the AMG Private Lounge who are likely attending, one of which is bringing his SLR.
Keep your eye on this thread for periodic updates.

If you guys want to fill me in on what kind of cars you intend on brining I can post that next to each persons name as well. I checked but none of you really have them listed in sig or profile.

Hi Jim- I've been out of town for a week and was wondering how this shaped up..... I'm actually a long time member of the Vette forum (sold my s/c Vette to get the Benz) and will know most of the guys who will be attending- all good folks. I'll be there for sure in my 220 S65......with DR's ready to roll
