Your right, you didnt say cant - I misread your post. I still stand by my point that you can run them if you want and it will work just fine. Squirrely? Nope, got over 1000 passes up to 130mph without issue. As far as risk, anytime a car is raced you run an inherent risk of damage to the car.

I'm not looking to argue, your car runs great for what it is and cuts good 60's no doubt about it, and radials tend to be just as fast or sometimes faster than bias ply - but not as consistant. I'd never be able to win races with a 60ft spread like yours which is why I run bias ply rubber out back. My shortimes usually vary by no more than .02 which is difficult on a radial, and near impossible on a radial tire car with decent power.

Anyway, congrats again very nice short times and ET's

Great post.

I also mix tires and use the ET Street when racing , definately easier to dial in.

I think on a Mercedes it may be a wee bit riskier due to the weight , my car seems to float but it is not much different than the feel on a drag radial.

Ahmad seems to have found some real key's to this , 1st is that tq converter, 2nd stronger axle's and 3rd will be what tire gets him the best ET and traps. Seems street tires get you the best traps but its a coin flip for traction, and or decent 60fts.

my time slips and a few members can vouch for me but i use et street radials and my short times vary by no more than .02 either...and my car has "decent power".

Yep chiro would be one of the guys always hitting 1.69-1.71. Sadly the tq converter must be preventing lower 60 ft times as Mikey leaves as hard as anyone

I'm telling all you guys, I ran against Ahmad's CLK55 and it looks like it's launching off an aircraft carrier when he comes out of the hole.

His and a newer Z06 Corvette running in the 10's where the ONLY 2 cars that I ran against that impressed me with there 60' & 330' times...

People have to remember that this was the FIRST time I was running these tires. I will admit I dont make "decent power" on a dyno but this is kinda consistent considering the many variables and me still learning how to launch with these tires:

11.24 @ 121.9mph at 2:45PM; 1.568 60'
11.31 @ 122.1mph at 2:48PM; 1.557 60'
11.15 @ 122.2mph at 3:41PM; 1.564 60'
11.26 @ 122.0mph at 3:44PM; 1.601 60' (was held at the tree powerbraking for 5-10 seconds because the guy in the tower fell asleep or something lol)

Thanks, on the launch where I broke the axle I can honestly say I think it would have gone low low 1.5x if not 1.4x had the car held together. Snapped me back into my seat like nothing I've felt before.

Ahmad...congrats on the great 60' times. That 1.55 is totally awesome and anyone that hasn't experienced a launch like that really doesn't understand how great that feels. My car will never get that low without strenghtened axles due to the mass I'm pushing. Other cars I have owned would 60' in the mid 1.5's like our buddy above with the TTA850. I had TTA #565 for a few years and that car would launch like no other....amazingly never broke a thing either with a crappy 7 5/8 rear(solid axle). Is your torque converter a 2600 or 2800 as SHR offers both options? Does that converter have good street manners? Congrats again.

Found a video made by the Long Island, NY Corvette Group that shared the video with us.

Is it me, or does my car look like it stumbles out of the hole on the last run.?

Thanks! I'm afraid once I put stronger axles something else will break... like the driveshaft! My trans was built by SHR but I got the torque converter done before I got the trans done from another company (I can pm it to you if you want). It feels like a 2600rpm stall. You should drive it to see how you like it. The car feels less responsive until you hit the stall speed and thats when it feels faster. Also, gas mileage went down with the tc as well
