Drove buddy's Audi S5...

First of all, the S5 is beautiful in person. If anyone gets it they are really lucky to have it...BUT it needs more power. I guess I am spoiled by the Beast because I was always waiting for the kick-down feeling and it never showed up.

It was metallic black with red interior. Kudos to Audi...more power please.

I love that car. I was going to order one from our Audi Dealer in the beginning of the summer but they were very hard to get your hands on an '08 model... so I was a patient and waited until they were excepting orders for the '09s... but I ended up buying my E55 the week before.... yeah... I didn't loose any sleep over it. haha.

By far one of the best looking cars inside and out.... hands down.

I still think about getting one but now I don't think I can give up the power and all the extra room of the E. But good god they are sexy cars!!!!

If they make a twin turbo (com'n RS5)...I might have to consider it an addition to the garage...I'd have to kick out my wifey's C300.

I am with you on that!!! But I don't see it happening... maybe they will bring in an RS5 with the tuned 4.2 V8 like what is in the RS4 that will push 420 hp, but as for getting an engine like the RS6 (V10 bi-turbo Lambo engine)... nope!! Audi will not import them to the states.... *** shame b/c I would sell my kidneys for a RS6 Avant!!!

Man... a wide body RS5 would be sexy as hell. I love my buddies RS4!! Audi knows how to make a good looking car... everything is rapped in Carbon Fiber inside and out.... engine is even housed in CF...

You got it right on the head. It is an extremely beautiful car! But like most audi's, you jus don't feel the power that should be there. (I had an audi a6 2.7T) I have driven a modded RS6 before and a RS4 also and they just didn't feel fast for having that much hp. I think it's just the weight that holds them down?

Either needs more power or less weight...

I heard they killed the plans for an RS5 for North America about a month ago. I have a good friend that is GM of a large Audi dealership in the Chicago area and he says at this time there are no plans to import the RS5 here at this time.

Too bad, because the S5 is a beautiful car, just a tad under powered IMO.

S5 is a beautiful coupe but yes engine is underpowered. however, i believe they r getting rid of the V8 and replacing it w/ a supercharged V6. at least it'll be easier to mod to get more power.

somethings better left unsaid ...
one of the - if not THE - most handsome cars out there. Thing is, and you're welcome to think I'm crazy, I just can't love an AWD car.

is there a chance someday there'd be a RWD RS5, S5, or even an A5 ??

actually is there a practical way of converting such timeless machines to RWD cars ??

2006 E55 2004 Audi S4 (gone and missed)
I recently traded in my 2004 S4 6 speed for a 2006 E55. You guys are right, these cars do need a little more power, but they are alot of fun to drive. I love my 55 but I have to say I miss the way the S4 handled, and I definitely miss driving stick. Anyway, there's a tuner out there called VF engineering about to release a supercharger for the 4.2 Audi V8 Cost will be about $10,000 for 400+ whp. There are a few hot threads on this subject going on in Audizine right now. Check it out. www.vf-engineering.com

I actually do have an '09 White S5 - I absolutely love the car and can barely pry it out of my gf's hands -(its really hers now).
It is a manual and while it is not the fastest car around it does everything well and if you already have a car thats fast - this is a fantastic addition especially as a DD.
Stay tuned the mods are comin after the winter - JT style

next years Audi S5 will have the 3l supercharged engine just like the S4..

it will be middle of the pack to compete against.. G37,370z, 335i, CLk550..

while it will have almost the same amount of HP and TQ, it will have 7sp Dual clutch trans and better MPG.

needless to say.. you don't need to spend $10k on mods to make it fast..

probably just a pulley, tune and a better HE.. it will be a nice ride.

No M3, or C63, but plenty fast.

yeah the new supercharged direct injection motor will have a lot of potential. pulley and a tune will be huge and keep in mind its all wheel drive too. i am fairly anxious to test drive that engine......although i will be spoiled by the 5.5k going into it

2004 E55 AMG
Drove the A5 on the autobahn about a year ago, smooth riding at 200kph. I believe it was the diesel, 3.0 TDI 300hp diesel. Very impressive and nasty snarl.

I agree... I love my RS4 but I'm in the same boat as the OP, it's just not fast enough.

After driving your K2 E55, it makes an RS4 feel like it's running on 4 cylinders.

a week after i got my e55 i was at a car meet and there was a "skeptical" guy in a rs4 there. we went out and did a few runs and it was BAD.....2.5 bus lengths bad from 30-120.

i still like the rs4 a lot especially with CF interior
wanna trade evilb ? hehehe
