Although I agree that it is lame to claim your car is an E55 when it is actually some E200 Turbodiesel, when performance is an issue in deciding the AMG badge debate, for the most part your cars will speak a clear language but don't be so quick to judge those who enjoy making their car look sportier...
Maybe I missed something but no one posted a person is a poser for added an AMG badge. The poser title goes to the guy that "badges up" - making his E320 into a E55 by way of lettering.

IMHO, AMG badges is right to be placed on any Mercedes where the owner has any AMG part, ie wheels, aero kit, suspension, exhaust etc.

E55Kev,

I appreciate yor opinion but here is the quote I was refering to from wreck:

"Not sure if it is worth the extra money for the badges cause the other day I say two E210 with AMG badges placed on their 320 or whatever. One even put an E55 badge on? Not sure what was going on there. I was like is your E an AMG, and the dude said "yes". I guess I have alot of reseaching to do, to what clasifies a car to me an AMG."

That sort of crap is not necessary...I mean come on, actually taking the time to ask someone if their car is authentic?? Wow does that guy really need a) a real job or b) a hobby. not everybody can afford an E55 or an "AMG Car so just let them do as they please. Knowing that you could most likely roast them in a race should be enough satisfaction. In the end isn't it really US against those dreaded BMW drivers

As I stated before, I'm still trying to figure out what classifies a car to be AMG. What I have learned so far was back in the day mercedes had an AMG package, I assume that's like ordering a sports package as car. If that classifies that as an AMG so be it. But like kev said that dude that had the E55 sign on there saying it was and AMG (in my mind he is saying it is an E55) then I felt uneasy about it or more confused.

That sort of crap is not necessary
Hmm I must of hit a nerve with you . Don't want to say sorry or whatever cause in your post you were kind of insulting me on a miscommunication. Do I need a real job or hobby? Interesting. Oh well I have to value your opinion. But all I can say is I do work hard for what I get and endure many hardships on the way. I just deal with cards I am dealt and move forward.

not everybody can afford an E55 or an "AMG
True that. I bought mine used and it is still hella expensive for me. I don't foresee me in buying another mercedes anytime soon, cause your right, they are expensive and not everyone can afford one new or used.

In the end isn't it really US against those dreaded BMW drivers
Depends on what car I am driving. ATM it's against the BMW's.

wreck,

I am sorry for the way the post came out in that I wasn't trying to insult you, It's just that recently, I have had little punk kids and others on the road question my car as if I am driving a yugo with a mercedes body. These people in question do not even know how to spell AMG and they are questioning me and talking down to me like my car isn't worthy and THAT is what strikes a nerve with me. My Car was only produced as a $140000+ AMG Hammer and even the 500E was not an AMG car but it is still regarded a better performer in some aspects than its replacement the E55 as you know since you drive one ( Great car by the way wreck ) So as I try to disregard the ignorance of the many people out there with regards to mercedes, it just gets quite annoying to hear it so often from civic and cavalier drivers.

Sorry for the insulting tone Wreck

This statement sums up the 'fake' badge scenario:

"having fake badges on your car is akin to wearing a toupee - pretty laughable!"

The other day I saw a guy in a Cadillac Escalade EXT truck. He added a '2' to the EXT making it show "EXT2" and then had the nerve to put 'V16', yes V16 badges, on the truck. Since the debut of the Cadillac 16 valve "show car" in January I guess he think no one knows that engine will never ever be produced.

Is that not a poser?

That's funny. Reminds me of the "1000 SEL" MB I saw several years ago. Must have been twice as good as the 500 SEL!
