Saw my first W211 E55 today...

I dont know when they are supposed to hit the streets but saw one today on the 170 freeway in Cali. Silver (of course) with factory silver wheels, the quad exhaust was hot looking. The new car paper plates were Keyes European- very nice car. Still looked like a bit of a sleeper to me just like the W210 E55. Not too much difference from the E500 and E320 but we all know what lurks underneath that hood.

What are the chances that this was a European model? I doubt it would be a US spec unless it was a test car or similar considering the allocations are just now showing up in dealer systems.

Thoughts?

Probably a Euro spec one that was brought over to the States for testing by one of the US auto mags. I remember when Motor Trend brought over a Euro spec SL55 over to the States for testing months before US spec cars were arriving.

The beast will be here shortly my friends.

Take care guys.

I didnt travel along side him too long as we were in some moderate traffic, are there any differences in the Euro Spec model that one could notice visually?

Normally when I see a car that has yet to be released it usually has distributor plates here in California, meaning it belongs to a corporate bigwig or something to that nature but in this case it had the dealer paper plates to a MB Dealer in Van Nuys, CA.???

The only visual difference in the Euro spec model from the US spec model would be the absent of 2 amber reflectors on the front bumper of the Euro spec one. Also, I believe the Euro spec suspension is set differently(sits lower) than the US spec one, just like W210 E55's. This would be difficult to notice at a stand still, let alone one that is on the move.

2003 CL55 AMG
The easiest way to figure out if it was a Euro model is to look at the front spoiler. Does it have a mount for a euro plate built into the bumper ? All Euro specs do from the factory.

Also, 2003 E55's HAVE HIT ! Vic, the one you saw was for real. The first batch got dropped on a few dealers for VIP's this weekend I was told by someone in MBUSA.

"There here !"

We just got pricing for the E55 in HK. HK$ 1,110,000=143,000USD. I would think the E55 in america would be right around 75K.
