I had my car in for service a few months ago and while it was there they must have done some software updates. Let me say they made manual mode so much better. The shifts actually happen when I press the paddle, rather then 5 minutes after. And the coolest thing is that the dash lights up red and says shift up. Anyone else get this update?

+1 can it be done on an e55 or is it a 63 feature only?

About 8 months ago, they updated my tranny software in my 55. I noticed that it will hold the lower gear much longer when you drive aggressively. I did not check to see if the manual shifts happen when you press the button. I know that they definitely were delayed big time when I tried manually shifting at Atco a year ago.

The shift color changing to red and saying shift up has always been there I've seen it even on very early builds of the 63s

My buddy has and E63 and I know for a fact that his car does not do this. I was under the impression that only the Black Series had this shift indicator function.

Way2Evil - Can you please check with your dealer and ask them exactly what was done to your car, if this was a TSB and if so what was the TSB # ??

I bought my 63 in March 07 and it was sitting on the lot for 3 months ( If I remember correctly). It did not have this when I got it. I remember because I was looking to see if it would bounce off the rev limiter in M mode or shift up for me.

Sure, my car goes in for service c in 600 miles, I'll have them pull a full service history.

My 08 E63 (built 11/07) lights the display red when I hit the rev limiter. It also shifts quickly and relatively hard (jerks forward) when in S or M and WOT. I'm not aware of any updates done to trany.

This is very strange I test drove my frist E63 in January of 2007 and when in manual mode, it would flash red and say shift up

I got mine in July/August of 2007 and it always had it....

This is a must for all 63, if any of you guys don't have it, please go in for the update.
