Sounds good. I'll bring my laptop, thanks!!

He said he only needs the car for a week, he's an extreme workaholic so hopefully when I get back from Vegas on Friday I can pick up the car!

First, and foremost, i really don't know that you can get that extra 20 or so HP going from shorties to the Kleeman mid sized and you still have to cut and weld. Second, why pay the price when i can have a custom set made local for less?
I would not have bought the kleemans if not for the $1500.00 price tag. I priced out the materials (304 stainless + collectors) and found that it was not worth my time for the small savings to create my own. I will say the craftmenship was not quite what I expected. Overall good but not what I would have expected out of kleeman. We did have to touch up a couple of pin holes.

If you go custom make sure the use 304 stainless. You also want a true collector not miter cut primary pipes. Use mild steel for the flanges. 1/2" thick if possible.

Drone was a poor choice of words, exhaust noise is a better term. Other long tube cars I've driven in have had significantly more cabin noise from the long tubes. Maybe the E55s extra insulation/etc helps?

2. supercharger engagement is no different than any other car. harsh engagement is a byproduct of a larger crank pulley and/or s/c clutch. since i had my s/c clutch replaced with the improved version, engagement is dramatically improved.
It is not merely a biproduct of a larger crank pulley and/or s/c clutch. I felt a significant difference in supercharger engagement going from the LET tune to the VRP tune I had now. The harshness is effected by a number of things beyond just the mechanical parts - how the engine makes power and where it picks it up will also effect the "shock" felt when the s/c engages. If you are saying yours has not changed, I find that surprising.

3. ZERO gas fumes unless i'm standing right behind the tailpipe.
I assumed that if Jangy were to add long tubes he would not have catalytic converters, you do have cats.

Evosport makes a very nice set for the CLK63, but I'm not sure if they do for the E-Class.

i really don't have any more cabin noise either. i retained the oem mufflers and that has a big role in why my car still sounds stock. when i was playing with mufflers, that was the only time i noticed a difference in cabin noise. as it is now, it's very slightly louder than stock from inside the car, but only at wot. from outside the car at idle you can hear cylinder pulse through the thin walled headers but that's only to someone that knows what that sounds like. and i think you're right on, a lot of this has to do with the excellent insulation our cabins have.

i do agree there are more things that affect s/c engagement, but my point is that headers are insignificant compared to these other things. without changing anything else, my car went from very abrupt engagement to better than when it was stock just by upgrading the s/c clutch assembly.

you could be right about an exhaust smell with no cats...but the exhaust is carried out past the end of the car so i don't see how that would be a problem under "normal" driving.

headers

I have been debating long and short tube headers but can't justify the price tag of any of these tuners. There is no reason why headers should cost over 1000.

I would say try to get with a good muffler fab place and have them custom a set for you. You should be able to get long tubes made for around 1000-1500K

I absolutely agree. This is why I decided to seek other options.

Price is the #1 reason why I have looked outside of the MB tuners. The tax is disgusting on exhausts.
