What's that noise???

Hey guys,

I recently had my 55 out at Palm Beach International Raceway in FL. Went on the road track with a couple of Ferraris and Porsches. To my surprise, I was keeping up with a few 360s! BUT... when I was done on the track I began to hear a squeaking noise coming from the front wheels. I though that maybe it was a pebble or something stuck in the brakes but I do not believe that is the case. It's been making this squeaking noise for about a week now. Has anyone ever had this happen? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
-Paul

brake wear sensors...you need new pads and probably rotors too. These big heavy cars can hold their own on a road course against full blown sports cars, but at the expense of brakes and tires.

Take a look at your caliper retention springs too. I had a similar experience and here's a cpl of pics. The first is the broken spring and the second the the stock spring compared to the newer version. I went ahead and replaced them all. Very easy to do yourself if you wanted to.

Zingzang23 remove the pads and see of there is anything fused on the pads.
I saw in your signature that you have modifed the intake and removed the baffles can you shed more light on that. I would also like to do it.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the quick replies! I am going to take my car into Mercedes as soon as I can. I am not much of a DIY person when it comes to messing with things such as the brakes! Don't trust myself with that hahaha.

Shardul: The things are did are minor but here are the links...

Modified intake: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...take-swap.html

Removed baffles: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w211...e-power-2.html

The "baffles" I am referring to are the fins in the front of the intakes. If you look at the last pic I posted on the first link above, you will see what I am talking about. If you want closer pics just let me know and I will post them.
