If Lexus is trying to make a GS-F would it make sense for them go this route? Development costs would be minimal due to existing engine/tranny/chassis technology; we all know how reliable toyota/lexus is; and Lexus seems to be pretty luxurious. Would this be the ultimate E-killer?

For me i prefer the torque low down from the AMGs, and driving around with high rpms all day for the best effect turned me off the M5s and would turn me off the boosted GS. But competition makes other automakers try harder. Rumors of a Twin-Turbo 5.5 anyone?
I love to see that happen and although I owned the lexus but I would take Mercedes over Lexus anyday

although lexus dealers do treat you like a king tho, mercedes wouldnt pay no mind to you unless you drove an slr... i remember taking my friend's is300 to lexus for a oil change, there was service reps running up to the car to open my door, taking me inside for coffee and got everything done so quick and with such a good attitude, dont get this kind of service at mercedes

How about your E55 VS E500 Supercharged Lorinser ? Which one got more HP and torque ? it must be very expensive to mod a E500 ......

2JZ is FTW. I love that engine so much. FWIW the IS has functioning tail pipes. They just aren't connected to the rear bumper "tail pipes". No car that has tailpipes molded within the bumper has them. The bumper will deform becuase of the exhaust heat if they were actually connected. I don't want to say no car but a good 99% of them that have this bumper inserted tailpipe don't.

Thats the truth! Although I LOVE my E55 I must say, being my first Mercedes the service is beyond horrible compared to Lexus service. What I liked alot was they (Lexus) would ALWAYS have a Lexus loaner available, even for oil changes. When I needed a major service I would schedule it late friday afternoons so I could get a loaner for the weekends to go on trips and such, lol.

The Benz dealer is always a fight for something. So I try to keep the service trips to the Benz dealer to a minimum.Don't get me wrong I love my AMG, all that torque has a way of making you forget the bad stuff, lol.

All depends on how much you want to do to the car and whos doing the work. A turbo kit for an IS300 might be $5k then install if you can't do it yourself. I was helping a frind turbo a sc300 and he's not even at $5k but I did some of the work and he paid for some.

I can see you paying someone to do all that for you.

If you go with all the good stuff for a 2J, it wouldn't run more then 15K in parts, and I mean good parts. We built quiet a lot of 7Ms and 2Js, its the labor hours that cost $, not the parts.

That really, really depends. My turbo was over $2,000, the clutch was $2,500 (RPS Carbon/Carbon), Forged internals and valvetrain, knife-edged crank and on and on. The damn thing bled me dry.

He must be smoking crack- I paid about 8k total including clutch. I pieced my own "kit" together. For that kind of money (35k) I'll buy and build you 2 of them. I did the labor on my own. I will dig up pictures if I can find my old external hard drive.

The guys from Bullish Racing don't come cheap, but the car did put down 790 on a moderate tune and makes 600rwhp at 18lbs of boost on exxon 93.

No expense spared, best parts available on the market and tuned by a guy who still holds track records. Not to mention the thing is as tame as a Celica on back roads and puts buslengths on my M5 on low boost.

And I rarely drive the thing.

I know they do, I've been a member of Supraforums since 1998. I've never put C16 in my car, according to Bert from Bullish it would make over 1,100 but I don't really see any need to go that far. I wanted my car to be unbeatable on the street and completely bulletproof, hence the enhancements to the internals and clutch. Not to mention the thing is completely tame on the road until you drop the hammer, can't say that about a lot of high horsepower Supras.

Hey Cylinder Head I see in sig your running 76dbb turbo, thats what I plan on moving up to. I'm currently using a Precision 71GTS but i'm goin to have to do some major tranny changes in order to hold the power.

I've owned a sh*t load of cars in my time and till today the best one I've had has been a 1994 MKIV. Single T-61 Turbo with an oversized rear. Made awesome low end and a nice top end. Dynoed at 637 rwhp at 25 lbs of boost. Nothing huge by today's standards but man was that a fun car to drive around in. I remember a summer that I just ran 100 octane all the time and top boost. LOL, motor took a serious beating but kept on ticking

I still have a picture of that car on top of my fireplace at home.

The thing is.... I am thinking to upgrade my E500 Kleemann K1 Kompressor + ECU tune... getting around 420Hp but close to $13k.
I could just sell my E500 and buy an E55 will be cheaper and better in HP !

Are you running the stock gearbox? I've heard the world record supra has an untouched gbox!
