Warranty for 2003 E55
Seven grand for a warranty is a hard pill to swallow but I guess I should be glad I have this option after reading through this thread.
I just got my car back from service and they replaced my SC clutch, all air bladders in the drivers seat and also one of my Parktronic sensors on my front bumper. If I would have had to pay out of pocket, it would probably have almost paid for the warranty.
This thread is great as I was about ready to pass on an 04 E55 I am looking at because my MB dealer in town said it would be like $6,500 for a 2 year/24k.
Again this is great I was hoping I could find a thread were I could call the warrant company direct and get pricing.
Now with Chrysler is anyone worried about them going out of business and the warranty is null and void?
Once I call both Chrysler and Mercury I will write down all the names/plans of the warranties they offer so we have it documented. I see "Easy Care” mentioned which I assume is a name of a warranty plan either Chrysler or Mercury offers?

Details are on the other thread but my take so far is that Chrysler is a great warranty but not company is not in financially sound shape. Easycare won't fully cover the ABC system so they're out. Fidelity has good stability and the platinum exclusionary plan will work if you keep total vehicle miles under 50k.
Still searching for the best plan....

It would nice to get one post with the company name, their number and name of plan people have recently gotten for their E55's.
So far I have this Mercury and Chrysler number to call and see what they offer.

They also get an "F" with the Better Business Bureau:
"We strongly question the company’s reliability for reasons such as that they have failed to respond to complaints, their advertising is grossly misleading, they are not in compliance with the law’s licensing or registration requirements, their complaints contain especially serious allegations, or the company’s industry is known for its fraudulent business practices."

Chrysler may me an option but as one of the posted above mentioned, what happens in the event of bankruptcy?
I haven't read the PDF but skimmed over it briefly.
Just FYI, there's a difference between an "Extended Warranty" vs "Service Contract."
An Extended Warranty is MBI (Mechanical Breakdown Insurance). It is an actual policy, underwritten by an actual Insurance company, and is subject to the regulations under the Department of Insurance.
Most everything else we talk about (Fidelity, EasyCare, Warranty Direct, Chrysler, etc...) are 3rd party "Service Contracts." Service contracts are just that, contracts. The 3rd party says if you do this and that, we will cover your car for these repairs. It is an "agreement" (ie. contrat). These contracts **ARE NOT** subject to Insurance Regulations, because IT IS NOT insurance. It is a service contract!

For 3 years 107/127 complaints went the customers way. How many warranties are out there for Fidelity and how many had problems but didn't complain to the BBB?? It is a bit of a crap shoot. Some of the complaints posted appeared valid while others were because people did not get the platinum exclusionary warranty and they had non-covered problems. The three MB dealers that I contacted have had good results with their customers. The DaimlerChrysler warranty appears better but if that division goes belly up you are left with a worthless piece of paper. I question how their rates are so low considering the expenses of MB repairs.
Either way you pay your money and take your chances....

Yeah uhh OK Chrysler will go bankrupt. Don't buy anything from them because they might not be here tomorrow!
Major companies often go into bankruptcy, it's not unusual. Chrysler, GM, United, Continental, American, AIG. These are all major players in their industry. They will restructure on their own and get out of bankruptchy on their own, or they will get and will continue to get cash injection by the government until they don't need it.
Do you seriously believe that some day in the near future all GM (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Hummer, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn) and Chrysler (Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge) Brands will be a thing in the past with just Ford Motors remaining?
It ain't going to happen.
