Chiro - how often do you hit the track and how many miles do you have or get on your T1R's? Just for the pure fact of preserving my street tires I'm thinking of getting dr's for the track. Also, what's the average life one should expect out of dr's, assuming you go a few times a year?

I am on my 3rd set, but have over 250 passes in just over 1 year's time.
WOW! That's a whole lot of passes in a years time. I don't know how often I plan on going but if I was to guess, at least 6-8 times a year. Would this justify drag radials if wear on my street tires was my only concern? I don't mind running with my street tires but I'm hoping to get at least 10k on them.

if you only go to the track a few times a year, your d/r's will last a looooong time!

Was....It still is stock. Out of about 10 runs I average 116.5 to 117.7 and 12.2 to 12.4 with the exception of two runs...my fan was on due to alittle heat and I ran 12.7@115.xx and another time I forgot to turn the esp back on after the burnout and spun & pitched it sideways the 1st 100' but still ran a 13.8@113

You guys probably can get away with a set a year if you only use them at the track. I am on my 3rd set, but have over 250 passes in just over 1 year's time. Also depends on what kind of burnout you do. the hoosiers only need a small burnout to get sticky. I still feel they wear out to fast.

No 55 for me. I have a SRT6. I drove tectite's car a few weeks back. It's not stock. Now have a buddy with one from Sedona, and his is stock. He's the one who ran 12.18 in a race against me. They have lots of motor similiarities, but it ends right there.

The mph is decieving. You have to understand the 1/4 mile with 60' times versus mph at the top end. The quick version is the better the launch equals great 60' times and and the lowest et and mph. Slip off the line and you will have higher mph, but a slower et. I am trying to find my timeslip when I ran against the stock E55. Even with 12.18 I don't remember the mph above 114 on that pass. I scanned it, just have to find it. I gave tectite the timeslip when I ran an 11.88, so I don't have the mph. I'll see if he has it at Famoso and get you the mph. I believe low 120's if that.

correction Urfantasy ran a 12.20@110 or 111 to my 12.25 @ 117.xx

Thinking of getting some DR's for this weekend and I'm debating on BFG's or R888's. It seems that BFG's are considerably cheaper than R888's. Any input would be appreciated. Also, if I purchase 275's with a slightly lowered E55 would rubbing be a issue with stock rims?

It shouldn't while you are going straight assuming that you are going to put these on at the track or will you be driving to the track with them on? I would go with the MT ET Street. I think they run about $450ish for a set of 265/40/18. Andy used those on his C63 when he ran 11.5 and he said that they are "sticky"!

When trying to attain higher MPH's, the air pressure in the rear tires should only be as low as needed to get the car to hookup.
The said, your front tires can be set up to 50 lbs for less rolling resistance.
I've found by starting at 35 lbs on drag radials you may only need to drop 5 to 10 lbs depending on the track prep.
Last time at the track my 35 lbs went up to 40 lbs after a few good burn outs and that by just lowering it back to 35 lbs the car hooked up perfect with no wobbliness on the top end.
Just remember to take your air pressure gauge, and reset air pressure back to stock, before the drive home.

On that day up in Sac I had quicker et's & faster trap speeds than other stock E55's that had better 60' times then I did (I mean their 1.8x to my 1.97). The other guys said that my car has a nice top end because I was picking over 26mph from the 1/8 mile to 1/4mile. The only E55 that was faster was Sean (I think that was his name) and he was a stage 1 with DR's. I believe he ran a best of 11.8@118xx (I may be off on the mph)

Just found the slip. He ran a 12.181 @ 114.019 all stock. His 60' was 1.782. Remember the better the 60' the lower the mph at the top. I remember the DA was about 2800' or higher that day. So a place like Famoso or Fontana that migh be a low 12.0 pass, possibly 11's with drag radials.
