Looks like the result of horrible driving. Rear ending someone is dumb at the best of times, especially at what looks like 40mph. Not like he can blame the brakes- they feel like cr%p but certainly stop well. Hopefully learned their lesson.

No way that will make any sense to repair, even if they give it away to you for free...which they're obviously not doing.
I'm seeing $10k-$15k in parts alone, and by the time you include labor just the repairs will cost more than the whole retail value of the car. A nice '04 that's never been in a wreck is like <$30k now. This will never make any sense.

Agreed, 14k is way too much, probably needs more in that just to repair easily especially if they have to pull the motor out.

Hmmm how can he say that the damage is only to the front, when he has a picture of the left rear that looks like will need at least a bumper cover, and the left rear wheel looks a bit jacked too. I wonder if the suspension back there needs some TLC.

I love that quote, it's almost as deceiving as the pictures they took. They were nice enough to stand back far enough and on the opposite side of the main damage area so you can barely see that the passenger apron assy is wadded up like tissue paper. I guess it's technically true that the car only has sheetmetal damage as the rails/apron IS sheetmetal. LMFAO.

$40K to fix it, maybe more (period).
I have a friend who owns a body shop and said they fixed an E55 that appeared from the outside to have about $5K damage, was still drivable, with no airbag deployment and it was $28K to fix.
This thing is FUBAR and gaurantee has extensive damage. DON'T TOUCH IT!
I would not even trust the motor/block was not damaged some way/some how.
I will say if a guy could get it for $5K it may be worth the risk and put the motor in another car. You could build a great drag car (old mustang or something) and go on Pinks!
