Going with a pulley this week..
I've decided after 4 days of owning my E55 I'd like some more power
.I plan to get a pulley, but i'm stuck on which one to get? Is the ASP pulley a good pulley, or are there better ones? Is the pulley listed on their site now the 181mm one? Or should I get a RENNtech, Kleeman, or VRP?
Also,
It is pertinent for me to do the ECU too? I'm just wondering if it's necessary to do the pulley and ECU setup all at once - since it'll be over $2000...
Will the pulley be completely useless without the tune, or will it still add power? What type of gains have you guys seen with just doing the pulley, then later doing the tune?
Thanks!
Also LET tuning will do a pulley ecu package for $1700

I gotta push ya to also include the LET heat exhanger system though. More boost is more heat and you WILL have blower shutdown as temps rise this Spring and Summer.

Can I go with a tune from like ASP and not do the pulley yet and still get gains? I think they state their ECU tune on 93 octane puts the motor at 497hp, correct? Does that mean with the pulley too? Cause the pulley has separate HP numbers as well where its listed?
What i mean is will a stage 1 tune benefit me much? Then later I can add a pulley and have it reflashed to function with the aftermarket pulley?
Thanks

From what I hear you can even benefit from just a tune only but that claim of 497hp? that means that you would have only gained about 4hp.

Just those friggin numbers from ChicagoX were WILD. Lower 11's.

other question:
ASP does not do tunes, just makes the pulley.
You can do a tune without the pulley, but gains are not all that great. Car will feel better though and at least it is something.
Pulley without a tune almost always is a flop. We had a guy put on an ASP and showed literally no gains as the stock ECU picked up the extra boost and pulled timing on him.
I say if you are gonna mod, go all out and snag the pulley and tune. Car will still run fine but she will just tire out quickly without a larger heat exchanger. (tire out meaning supercharger shutoff). You'll need to make heat exchanger your very next mod.

heh even though I know bhp numbers aren't always accurate.
