Here are some pics of my Kleemann stage 4 with custom X-pipe (from a Mustang X pipe) to replace cats and resonator. I have Kleeman headers too. Sound is louder wide open throttle, but no difference inside the car. Seems to get better gas mileage and a little power too.

I will get some sound clips at Famosa this Saturday. It still sounds too quiet for me, I think I will do the muffler packing delete after Famosa.

I already had the Kleemann headers and a Bassani X-pipe from one of my Mustang Cobra projects (I own a Mustang shop in CA) so to have my local exhaust shop just remove the rear cats and reasonator and bent up some new pipe with labor was $300. Car feels stronger through-out the rpm range and is getting about 1-2 mpg improvement all around. I am happy with the results, but still want a little more sound.

I just talked to a shop here in Az and they said it is illegal to even remove the secondary cats? They said it wont pass emissions even with the primary cats?? thnx

I will re-install the cats for smogging...CA is pretty strict...no CEL because of Kleemann tune.

Here are some sound clips of my 2008 Shelby GT500 with a few mods:
Dynatech long tube headers with 3" collectors, 3" high flow cats and pipe into 3" Mac Mufflers, 2.6" metco pulley, 4# lower pulley and dampener, Whipple single blade throttle body, Ford GT cams and JLT carbon fiber intake. Enjoy!!

Damn, that Shelby sounds wicked! I've been thinking about the X pipe mod. I really don't want the muscle car sound that the Sheby has, but would prefer a more lambo exhaust note. Other than buying a LP, any suggestions?

You won't get the Mustang sound unless you delete the cats and possibly even gut the mufflers. If you want it to sound like a Lambo find and fab in some Tubi mufflers, or even Corsa mufflers. The x-pipe will not change the sound much, if anything it will make it sound a little smoother.

you bet guys..glad you enjoyed them...after hearing a couple of E55's at Famosa this weekend, I thing I will gut the mufflers too. I don't want it as loud as my Shelby, but still want some more sound

Before gutting maybe you should pm the owners of the cars you liked to see what might be different. If you end up gutting the mufflers and don't like the sound...oops. JMO.

By chance did you feel a power gain after deleting the cats?
