TRUNK BADGE REMOVAL

Hairdryer and dental floss.
Use the hairdryer to warm up the badge and adhesive then use the dental floss to "Cut" it off the car

NOPE! The star is held in with grommets isnt it? I got the others off with fishing string but not this one. The star in the middle of the trunk.

The Star has 3 prongs that go into the trunk so the floss will only work on the E55 and AMG badges. I had mine filled and repainted for a cleaner look. I do like the black badging though

I've done a load of these starsta nd it is just about impossible to get it off withourt bending it some. Then, it won't be flush on the outer ring when you put it back. Trust me, tearing out the interior to get to the pins is a pain, too.
Good Luck. I'm at the same phase. As usual, I tried to get it out without hurting it but it bent so I am buying a new one to paint and replace.

How do we get it back on without tearing out the interior? Isnt there some crapy cromets that have to go on the inside,,,, if not I will tear the damn thing off and just get a new one. Does the new one just snap into the holes?

Thats a good looking ride! Screw it,,, I taped it off real well and am painting and clearing it on the trunk.

Good idea on painting it on the car. If I were you I would try and get some paper behind the emblem as much as you can so if you ever want to remove it from the trunk it won't be glued on there with black paint and clear coat

Ha,,, thats funny,,, thats what I did. Actually thin paper fits almost the whole way behind there except for the middle where its held in. I have the entire car covered with sheets and taped off as well.

WOW that looks better then I imagined! I like how you painted the handle on teh trunk too. Is that a black chrome? I was going to do black chrome on my car with the V8 Kompressors and the chrome lining on the doors and bumpers. That's what you need to do now! Paint all the chrome lining on it (including door handles)! It will give me motivation to do my car

Emoving, I plan on doing this today. My E55 and AMG badges have been black for a while, but not the star. My rear is coming together nicely so it's time. And I'm not going through the trouble of taking it off.
Can you be a little more specific? Did you sand it down at first? How many coats, from how far away? What kinda paint? What'd you use to mask it off?
